Scott Frickel is an American sociologist, currently an associate professor at Brown University, previously a professor at Tulane University and Washington State University, where he was the Boeing Distinguished Professor of Environmental Sociology. He is also a published author, being both cited and collected by libraries.
James R. Elliott is Professor of Sociology at Rice University. His research focuses on urbanization, social inequality, and the environment. He has served as advisor to the Sociology Program at the National Science Foundation and as co-editor of Sociological Perspectives (the official journal of the Pacific Sociological Association). His co-authored book with Dr. Scott Frickel, Sites Unseen: Uncovering Hidden Hazards in American Cities, recently won the Robert E. Park award for best book in community and urban sociology from the American Sociological Association. His current research focuses on the pressing intersection of rising social inequalities and climate adaptation.
