Born in 1973 and grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa. Graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1992. Holds a BSc in Political Science and a postgraduate diploma in Asian studies.

Studied at the University of Lisbon and Harvard University, where he wrote his doctoral dissertation under Harvey Mansfield.

Author of three books on Chinese foreign policy strategy and Sino-American relations.

American political scientist. Born in Budapest, Hungary to Jewish parents who survived the Holocaust. Fled Hungary as a child to escape the Communist regime and settled in the United States as refugees. Holds a B.A. in political science from City College of New York and a Ph.D. in government from Cornell University.
