How it started | How it's going

This bench, seen at a hotel while on vacation with my family, was the original inspiration for this series.

The thread below shows the development of the work from start to finish.
1/16
It started with a literal interpretation of the general structure
2/16
And took a small detour in the paper-cut style of @pauldrzal
3/16
Then a bit of texture was added to the shapes
4/16
Next, some transparency was included, and a code bug resulted in lines that extended off the page, making the work looked tensioned and pulled (a good example of a code bug embraced)
5/16
Colors started to be incorporated
6/16
And a little chaos was tested
7/16
In search for more colors, I pulled out Werner's Nomenclature of Colors (outlined and explained well in the book Nature's Palette) and started sampling from Werner's set of 110 colors.
8/16
Some segments started to be dropped to add variety and visual interest
9/16
And the extended lines were clipped
10/16
Minimalist outputs were tested
11/16
And some extreme alternative configurations were explored
12/16
Things started to be balanced as colors, line weights, and texture were all dialed in
13/16
But some extremes strayed a little too far
14/16
A couple more bugs were uncovered that were fixed instead of embraced
15/16
And finally, the work has arrived in it's current and final form - pulled, stretched, and intertwined - bound in a tangled tension
16/16
Despite best efforts, weird ones sometimes still slip through
17/16
