Highlights from @Sothebys Generative Art Exhibition in NYC, featuring @dmitricherniak, @tylerxhobbs, @pointline_ alongside the pioneers of Generative Art (who were born in the 1920s!) Csuri, Verostko and Molnar
"The term “Generative Art” mistakenly leads some to believe a computer has usurped the creative act, but nothing could be further from the truth. From the initial, creative act of writing the algorithmic code, to the frequent active interventions and roles of chance and
randomness, generative art works depend on the human touch of the artist at multiple stages in their creation".

Sine Curve Man by Chuck Csuri, 1967
so ahead of his time: the first artist-created figurative computer artwork, and perhaps the first avatar. a similar Sine Curve Man by Csuri resides in the Whitney's permanent collection
Manchester Illuminated Universal Turing Machine #22 by Roman Verostko, 1998

loved this display. seeing Iskra IRL hit different after engaging with her work on @fx_hash_ - the discourse between collectors and artists is unmatched there, creating a totally new sense of intimacy between artists and collectors. thank you @ciphrd
these are just a few highlights, see the remainder of the exhibition below. special thanks to @galaxyRTK for bringing me into the incredible world of generative art after meeting by chance in an NYC yoga class last year
