Professor and Rita Shea Guffey Chair in English at Rice University. Member of the object-oriented philosophy movement, known for exploring the intersection of object-oriented thought and ecological studies. Author of the book "Humankind: Solidarity with Non-Human People" which rethinks the relationship between humans and non-human animals and nature from an object-oriented ontological perspective. Expert in literature of Percy Bysshe Shelley and Mary Shelley, Romanticism, diet studies, and ecotheory. Faculty at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
