I found the Goodreads reviews of Feyerabend's "Against Method" - one of the most important books in my life - very interesting & diverse:

I found this thread enlightening:

I am seeing a lot of newcomers lately to the room-temperature superconductor rodeo. They might not be aware of the long history of these events, and I think there’s some cross-cultural communications difficulties going on because of that.

I enjoyed reading this memoir of Stirling Colgate, one of the most remarkable people I've ever met: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2001.05023.pdf

Strongly recommend checking out his YouTube channel. If it's CG he's going to a _lot_ of trouble to make it look like live performances. This is the show reel, other videos appear to be done live:

It's a tangent, but here's one of my all-time favourite movies (28 sec). It's of Picasso painting, not the (famous) self-conscious clip, but just him in his studio: [link] I find it both incredibly moving & intellectually & creatively stimulating.

I was referring to Forewords by other people, but, more importantly: that's a great essay, thanks for sharing!

Great thread. I didn’t realize the first point; it’s lovely, and fun to think about why!

A few simple facts that some people find surprising the first time they hear them. Imagine $100 is behind door A or B and I give you independent hints about which. The hint says either A or B but is right only 55% of the time. First hint is worth $

The Dirac book, BTW: https://t.co/wbwujq4JaM Great book! I learned a lot about GR from it (particularly in concert with Isham's book on differential geometry, & @seanmcarroll's wonderful short notes, which I carried around with me for months: https://t.co/agSq4gKA1c ).

A lovely thoughtful thread from @jasoncbenn, who is trying to build a new neighbourhood in SF:

What is culture? Culture is the ambient force that induces different ways of being into people. Similar to Alan Kay's "Perspective is worth 80 IQ points", I believe a powerfully good culture is worth, conservatively, 30 IQ points.
