Recent report on China's chip capabilities, recommended.
TL;DR: in trailing-edge chips (20-120 nm) chips, China leads or has a good odds of self-sufficiency;
in leading-edge (phones, AI), seems very unlikely they can suceed or go self-sufficient given US export controls.

Because we trained GPT on code, it means we’ve trained it on billions of individual micro-logical predicate sequences, so it “knows” logic by thinking in code. twitter.com/Mihoda/status/1644564637420249088

We wrapped up the first LLM hackathon for applications in materials and chemistry last week. The results to me were astounding. We are at the point now where some tasks that took years can now be completed in days. Here is a list of the fantastic submissions!
