Strong piece by @PeterKolchinsky on the prospects for a coronavirus vaccine. He thinks a vaccine will be developed and that we'll be able to keep up with future mutations should a COVID22 or COVID24 arise.

I’ve been in the space a while. @bariweiss has put together perhaps the most substantive public discussion yet between the crypto and fiat communities — represented by me and @profplum99 respectively. Worth your time!

This is now out on Kindle for $10. Nadia is very smart and it’s worth reading anything she writes on open source.

Good thread on the last mile problem for deep learning. The main thing that’s worked in the successful production ML apps I’ve supervised (from variant calling to anti-fraud) is a cheap, fast feedback loop to turn new in-field training examples into online model updates.

Deep learning excels at unlocking the creation of impressive early demos of new applications using very little development resources. The part where it struggles is reaching the level of consistent usefulness and reliability required by production u

Important new book by @AshleyRindsberg. Everyone in tech & crypto should read it. The issues go much deeper than any one story. The core problem is entrusting the determination of truth to some random inherited media corporation, rather than cryptography.

Awesome thread by @alephile for Africans getting into crypto, but really for anyone. Just putting in the work here and writing good blog posts will get you from zero to one.

If you’re African and can’t code and are looking for how to break into crypto: We’ve generally done a bad job of demonstrating how non-coders can intellectually apply themselves in crypto. Do a lot of research, set an incredibly high standard for th

Good thread. The key thing is that culture creators and their early fans can now get equity-like monetization for everything they contribute to the commons.

Good article. I think it’s more like war/war/war/peace, though. Takes a long time before a company can really just coast and afford to make mistakes.

This is an interesting discussion between @CarlZha and @Noahpinion on US/China relations. It's more substantive than most Twitter repartee and gives a good snapshot of the Chinese nationalist and (fast-disappearing) American internationalist views.

You might productize this. The $100,000 containerized homestead. Like a meal kit++, except it’s a kit with which to make all your meals. The Knowledge by @lewis_dartnell is a great conceptual starting place if you’re interested in this kind of thing:
