Phenomenal post that puts its finger on something. Why do we tend to only have indefinite optimists, as per Thiel’s framework? Because anyone with a well-thought through plan for change is portrayed as bad. The status quo is good, changing it is bad. Good must be naive.
Good thread. Fits into the broader thesis that we are running history in reverse, witnessing similar scenarios but with opposite outcomes. In the 20th century, the PRC was understudy to the USSR. But in this century, Russia is becoming China’s junior partner.
Good thread on why tech companies (and companies in general) are buying media arms. There is for sure an economic argument to be made in terms of LTV/CAC. But I think it's worth doing even if it doesn't show up in the numbers. Can't let a disaligned media company speak for you.
Good thread. The tech version of diversity of tactics means combining both exit and voice, though. I'm skeptical we can do anything but play defense at DC level, but we can make progress in US states and cities (Miami, NYC, WY) and outside the US (LatAm, financial centers).
