The Jules Horowitz Reactor (JHR) is a construction project recommended as a replacement for the European Union's existing materials testing reactors. It is being built by an international consortium of research institutes and private companies, including France's CEA, the Czech Republic's NRI, Spain's CIEMAT, Finland's VTT, Belgium's SCK•CEN, the United Kingdom's NNL, the European Commission, and companies such as Electricité de France (EDF), Vattenfall, and Areva. Funding for the reactor comes from CEA, EDF, EU research institutes, and Areva. The JHR will also be available for education and joint research and development projects for institutions from IAEA Member States.
