Blindsight by Watts - the ship’s AI only communicates with the captain, a scientifically “plausible” superintelligent, uhm, vampire. One of the best novels with a long list of scientific paper references, too

It’s not a book but I think Metropolis from Fritz Lang should be up there. The similarities in the screenplay with what’s going on right now with AI are huge( ➡️Thread about it coming soon 💪😎)

As I spend most days explaining consciousness and love to LLMs - I remember this one about a programmer from the 80s that finds himself on a different world where he can make magic with code told as story. Fun book from high school 😂
