Any recommendations for cool nonfiction books?

i just read this recently and i second this !!!! instantly went on my fave books list :’)

Have you listened to I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy?

I don’t read much non fiction but I love memoirs so here’s my recs:

I really loved "I'm glad my Mom died" by Jeanette Mcurdy and "Miyazaki World" by Suzanne Napier. Both interesting biographies(?) Survival stories in such different ways 😎

Jennette Mccurdy’s memoir “I’m glad my mom died” is one of the best books ive ever read. You should check it out.

Educated by Tara Westover is a great memoir IMO! it’s her story of growing up w extremely religious mormon parents who opposed public education to her eventually graduating from Cambridge University! it’s emotional and there’s some pretty gnarly stories in it too

“Educated” by Tara Westover. A biography of a woman leaving her strict religious upbringing and becoming very successful. Pretty good if you ask me

Have to recommend Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls or UnSweetined by Jodie Sweetin. Theyre definitely some of my favorites!

This is good

Its fairly well known so you may have already read it, but The Glass Castle is an excellent memoir. The author's life growing up had some harrowing moments and its incredibly well written.

Carmen Maria Machado’s “In The Dream House” has haunted me ever since I read it a few years ago; give it a whirl!

Into thin air is about a guy and his climb on Mount Everest

into thin air by jon krakauer is a great survival story that happened on mount everest, really good alive: the story of the andes survivors is fascinating, theres a movie too the unthinkable- who survives when disaster strikes and why is also super good

Into Thin Air is a well known, well loved survival story that has stayed with me. It's about the 1996 Everest disaster, written by a survivor

I’ve seen at least one person already suggest it but I can’t recommend it enough: “The Indifferent Stars Above”

The Indifferent Stars Above: The Harrowing Saga of the Donner Party Is an extremely well researched book. It does such a good job establishing the historical setting and the extreme conditions the party endured.

Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage is really intense and awesome

I recommend 'In Order to Live' by Yeonmi Park. It's an autobiography about her escape from North Korea

cultish is very good!

Cultish by Amanda Montell was really entertaining and gave me a lot to chew on. She also hosts a podcast with Isa Medina called Sounds Like A Cult that’s a good follow up.

Last year I read The Stranger in the Woods. It's about a guy who lived as a hermit in the woods in Maine for over 20 years. It was interesting reading about his general outlook on life, feeling out of place in society, and how oddly relatable it was at times.

I enjoyed A Butchering Art a lot, which is focused on Joseph Lister and Victorian Medicine, as well as The Faithful Executioner which talks about a sixteenth century executioner with his journals that they found

the butchering art by dr lindsay fitzharris is amazing! its a wacky woohoo history of the surgical revolution!
