Two days ago, "The Lancet, Regional Health: Americas," which is part of The Lancet group, asked me to review a paper. I accepted the task on the same day and was provided access to the manuscript.
However, upon review, I found that I could not complete the task as I am color blind, and the authors did not use a color palette that is accessible to individuals like myself.
I informed the editors of this issue and suggested that I would be happy to complete the review if the authors changed the color palette they used. Unfortunately, the editors withdrew my assignment without any explanation.
This is an issue that has already been addressed in some publications, for instance, in the following article: www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02696-z.
