The rise in Japanese holdings of foreign bonds had an enormous impact on global markets between 2011 and 2020. Now, global markets will have to adapt to a reduction in Japanese demand.

Highly recommend this great post by @EtraAlex and @Brad_Setser on the change in appetite of Japanese investors for foreign bonds. They have been a huge buyer for years, but seem to be moving away. This has huge implications for all asset classes.
