Michael Aaron Nielsen (born January 4, 1974) is a quantum physicist, science writer, and computer programming researcher living in San Francisco.
Co-author of "Capital as Power: A Study of Order and Creorder" with Shimshon Bichler. Their writings focus on the nature of capital in capitalism and present an alternative view to Marxian and neoclassical economics. They propose that capital represents the quantification of power and emphasize the governing role of power in capitalism, rooted in the centrality of private ownership. Their theory highlights the concept of differential accumulation, whereby firms aim to exceed average profit levels.
