This is a thread about my series Elements, which is a base for many of my artistic endeavours. It started in Brescia, Italy in 2017 during a residency period in palazzo Monti.

During my time there I scavenged the surroundings finding objects that took my interest. From natural objects like wood and rock to fabricated pieces made from plastics, fabrics to even locally made pasta.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
I created a whole library of objects with which I was experimenting on using external forces like burning, soaking, throwing, pulling, among many others. By doing so the objects returned to a different state of being.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
All materials are made of chemical compositions that react differently to external forces. They break down in underlying patterns of those compositions, or patterns of the forces applied on them.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
Nature exists out of patterns everywhere that are self similar across scales. From microbial to interstellar levels. Take this tree branch and lighting bolts for example.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
Even data, or human behavior follow the same patterns as @refikanadol and so many other amazing artists are uncovering. As you can see below, data and natural shapes have uncanny similarities.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
I like to think of those patterns as mathematical formulas that make up our universe in a very simple way. Although the outcome created by them has so many variables it becomes utterly complex.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
Those same patterns I could closely relate to the objects that I found, by seeing them transform through external forces back into different states. It clicked with me that there is no truth in shape or form.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
It is like the objects are in a constant state of abstraction and transformation hidden from us only because of our sense of time, economic purpose, cultural relevance etc. If we take out our bias and speed up time how would we view those objects?
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
Those questions made me use the objects as reference and put them in a different context by playing with lighting, angle, color etc. By doing so the same object would take on a new meaning or association.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
Sometimes our perception takes an easy turn and associates in a superficial way. Like the object in red quickly becomes something like intestines, and the one in blue is something from the sea. But more often we associate in ways unclear and unknown to us.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
It showed me how inclined we can be to see something through our perception based on geolocation, religion, culture, politics etc. Because in each group of people we have the ability to each see something different in the exact same thing.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡
I am still at a loss for words describing these topics properly but I will work daily on the topics of reality- perception- transformation with my art in search of answers as I know there is a greater interconnection to be found.
