@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano 1/x Internship model, not old school child labor, got it!

@pomp & @dwarkesh_sp , the convo you had about restructuring education on a scale of 0-10, 10 being most progressively minded, I’d put you at a 5 as far as the everyday convos had my educators/actions taken to evolve.
@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano @POMP 2/x I’ve rusher HS for 20 years and I’d put myself at a 8 or a 9.

Other ideas that we talk about or have already been implemented -

Elimination of standardized tests, little/no homework, eliminating class rank, no grade levels (no frogs, soph, etc)
w/ standards to pass…
@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano @POMP 3/x class and then you simply move on (this would req standards based grading, which some already do), drastically scaled back ‘class time’ and more ‘autonomy time’ w/ consequences built in if not performing, etc, night school, virtual school, and many others.
@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano @POMP 4/x pretty much textbook adoption is gone. All online-ish, decentralized learning.

3 biggest challenges to sum up:

1) SEL at core of education (pretty much there)

2) keep high academic standards w/ ‘1’ in mind. Finding that optimization.

3) proper integrating of tech
@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano @POMP 5/x in HS math, our biggest challenge is- how do you foster learning problem solving, modeling, team building resilient, rational/scientific though when Photomath can solve any equation?

I could go on.

@APompliano DM me on internship connections. Schools have this…
@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano @POMP 6/6…and are always looking for more of this.

Internships, technical training in their preferred field is just ripe for connections bw schools and biz, industries, etc.

Also, I’ve created an economy in my classroom through gamification.

Be more than happy to discuss further
@dwarkesh_sp @APompliano @POMP taught*. Almost got through a thread without an error 😂
