OK I really didn't need to find this while on a writing deadline & while trying to get into gear for #NFTNYC but I also needed everything about this in my life, so after wrangling 3hrs of sleep since my 1st visit here are some random thoughts on @typed_art typed.art/
@typed_art What is it? Pretty damned simple really (as so many great ideas are). We've got a text-based NFT marketplace on #tezos. Simple interface. light & dark mode. All mints numbered in sequence (mid-1500s as I type this). Link to an individual mint shows those before it.
@typed_art Anything you can type you can put here, letters, numbers, special characters. "text based" might sound limited at first if you only associate NFTs w/ 3D renders or processor-pushing gen art, etc but just like there's no beauty in tennis without a net, the constraint >> creativity
@typed_art but the simplicity of it all, in addition to fostering some truly delightful examples of literature & certain types of visual art ALSO lends itself to super-basic everyday utility...like maybe a microblogging use??? I mean we're less than 24 hours in but my head is spinning.
@typed_art Random thoughts on some mints & the rapidly expanding ecosystem:

1st token on the platform, by first, simply saying first. 9999 of them. Works as a great "this is what this site is" but also already memetic via the universal comment thread trope. typed.art/0
@typed_art 2nd token. A "GM!". We are, after all, in NFT land here. This enterprising individual has minted 1 iteration at 1000xtz. Should start a prize pool to wgaer on when someone apes into it (doubtful it's long). typed.art/1
@typed_art token the 3rd, first appearance of an image. Also the most common thing to be typed first on any device or in any coding output. We're discovering ourselves here. 2# typed.art/2
@typed_art I'm not going to go through all of these but the very visible nature of where we are in terms of mint order is DEF a big feature here. I find it working like a "block time" sort of refrence i.e. "I remember it was around typed mint #850 that I become convinced this was special".
@typed_art That's crazy. BTC OG maxis have been trying to call that kind of temporal reference for years and like, it took me 12 hours to start doing this internally on this platform. Gonna tell my grandkids kids where I was at mint #42069 ...
@typed_art ...speaking of jr. high school memes it only took 35 mints for somebody to drop a dick. Basic, but effective. typed.art/35

But also a window into just how quickly people are iterating in the first 24 hours because....
@typed_art just a few hundred mints later we'd gone from cave art to rococo (at least within the very specific field of text based phallus crypto art) 694# typed.art/694
@typed_art And like, I don't want to be the ASCII dick-art historian of Tezos or anything but I can't decide of if this token, a fewer hundred mints after that absolute Sistine Chapel of a version above is a regression, a copycat, or a minimalist advancement typed.art/1036
@typed_art Crypto memes abound. My favorite so far are perhaps these extremely well done @nounsdao glasses. Which i love both for the artistry and as a beacon of cross-chain crypto native appreciation & influence 819# typed.art/819
@typed_art @nounsdao The visual art has gotten really elaborate. Now, complex ASCII art has been a thing for decades so I imagine a lot of this originated elsewhere, or else that it's using image >> ASCII conversion tools. It's all good with me either way! 92# typed.art/92
@typed_art @nounsdao Although this later version of the same image above is the first on-platform copyminting that I observed (for shame!...or maybe not? I dunno we're still very much in the prehistoric stage of figuring out what typed is and what its culture will be) typed.art/1435
@typed_art @nounsdao It's really thrilling to see a visual artist whose work I've loved and collected, like @uczine jump so quickly onto something like this and release an absolute gem typed.art/156
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine But probably the creators most excited about this are current poets, writers, & text-based artists. I first learned of the platform from seeing poet/AI seer/genius @sashastiles post some of her binary poems in yet another beautiful way typed.art/538
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles This platform is kind of perfect for concrete/experimental poet @MerchantCoppola who has been hard at work here typed.art/827
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola The essential @Kaloh_nft, who does *so much* for the Tezos ecosystem has been, predictably, already mapping out possibilities for what this could become typed.art/1081
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft Digital graffiti might have found a new home 780# typed.art/780
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft I've collected amazing poetry NFTs on eth and tezos (and am looking at sol) but this specific kind of work (stripped down, using just text/symbols) just fits here typed.art/1053
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft Someone is just doing straight up Tezos ticker updates (this is the kind of thing you might not be interested in on a pure marketplace but it is *exactly* the kind of thing you go to twitter and RSS feeds for 962# typed.art/962
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft I don't know what this will be. But the pure ENERGY I am feeling and observing at this extremely early stage rivals almost anything I've seen in my time here in the space. I'm hooked. More people keep dropping more boundary pushing stuff. New & established creators just vibing.
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft 1 thing that's especially notable is the ease & low-pressure nature of minting. I've collected hundreds of NFTs on Tezos, never felt the need to mint anything (even though the chain is esp welcoming to writers) but I did here, because it was as low-lift as tweeting. That's BIG.
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft I'm not the dude for technical details but from what i understand these pieces are not minted directly on-chain (could be wrong) that would be huge. I also don't know what happens when someone inevitably mints slurs and hate symbols, etc. But we will figure it out.
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft But I think the sky is the limit for @typed. (shout out to the devs @playnft & @erenertugrul (sry if I'm missing others). This could just be a dope market, or maybe it evolves into decentralized Twitter/Medium. Or a protocol like SMS or uniswap. Dunno.
typed.art/7
@typed_art @nounsdao @uczine @sashastiles @MerchantCoppola @Kaloh_nft @typed @playnft @erenertugrul But for me personally it is the most exciting development on Tezos since @fx_hash_ and if it can attract and sustain even a fraction of the community/dev enthusiasm & experimentation seen there then it is going to be something very special indeed.
