I believe Facebook/Meta sentiment is going to shift in the public

Here are 10 ways it might happen:

1. It starts with the thought leaders
Just this week I heard multiple “positive” meta conversations

On @SahilBloom’s podcast, FB was positioned as undervalued and misunderstood.

@lexfridman made Zuck seem thoughtful, considerate, family-oriented, and in control.

The reality is we love to tear people down from the top and build them back up.

2. Tensions between the US and China keep boiling
This will become a major issue for Tik Tok.

It makes little sense for US interests to allow China access to all our behavior and data

This privacy issue becomes a national security concern and overshadows Meta privacy issues

3. FTC scrutiny dissolves and allows Meta to make acquisitions again

The rev loss from Apple privacy and the rise of Tik tok as a valid competitor deteriorate the case for government intervention.

There is a reason they highlight this on earnings calls.

4. Loneliness becomes a mental health crisis

VR could provide a meaningful solution for many people.

Access to therapeutic channels, substitutes for remote work, and communities explode on Oculus.

New translation tech eliminates language barriers unlocking global friendships

5. Diversifying ad spend off of Meta won’t work

Lots of businesses will fail and Meta will be painted as a critical part of the American small business economy.

Apple selfish, we miss Meta.

6. Quest 2 has the biggest breakout game of the year

The massive increase in adoption over Q4 will inspire more game creators to see the platform as valid.

Or perhaps it comes from Roblox, my kids really want it on their Oculus

7. Meta captures kids

Messenger kids is second only to YouTube in utilization for my kids.

They love it. They have no negative association with Meta.

It has fun AR, the ability to talk to friends, and runs on old devices with no cell connection.

IG kids launch is next

8. Instagram launches an NFT wallet and marketplace

The visual environment is built for showing off your virtual goods, the UI is way better than Metamask, and storing your PFP avatars will create easy access into metaverse experiences.

9. “Alternative” social networks completely fail and reveal the “Truth” about the technical challenges associated with free speech.

Overrun by trolls, hate speech, pornography, and misinformation alt networks collapse.

FB seems like the move back to the center.

10. Ad revenue recovers and starts growing again.

FB has allegedly trimmed signal loss down to 8% which is a strong sign of progress.

Crypto and NFT projects ramp up spending on the IG release Q3 numbers are hopeful.

Obviously, all of these things are hypothetical… but possible.
