Currently hooked on Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History. 100 people recommended it to me and I kept putting it off and finally listened to the 6-part WWI series and that was that for me. Went back to episode 1 and went through chronologically, currently up to episode 42 and loving every minute. History is so incredibly riveting if told by the right person, and Dan is the right person.

Maybe the most engaging podcast I have ever listened to. His lengthy series on the Eastern Front in WWII, the fall of the Roman Republic, and the Mongols are incredible. Dan is a master story teller and its almost impossible to stop listening to him recount these violent and historic eras. Even if you don’t care about history, you will find these podcasts enjoyable and worthwhile.

Listen to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History on Spotify. In "Hardcore History" the very unconventional Dan Carlin takes his "Martian", outside-the-box way of thinking and applies it to the past. Was Alexander the Great as bad a person as Adolf Hitler? What would Apaches with modern weapons be like? Will our modern civilization ever fall like civilizations from past eras? This is a difficult-to-classify show that has a rather sharp edge.
