Started reading this spontaneously after coming across a glowing recommendation last week. Three surprises: 1. It‘s NOT a DIY book. 2. The writing is incredible. I‘ll post some quotes. 3. It‘s 1000+ pages — what did I get myself into?!

The Making of the Atomic by Richard Rhodes is the best science book I've ever read, the best history book I've ever read, and also one of the most readable, fly-through-at-a-breakneck-pace doorstops ever. And it's PACKED with tons of "hey, didya know...?" facts, we love 'em.

Another book I had always meant to read but hadn’t 🙂 It really is as good as advertised. For me, the best book I read this year both in terms of learning and enjoyment. Truly epic story, showing humanity at both its best and worst.
