His name is JJ Hill. He saved a little money, and then emigrated to America. He got a job and learned how to keep accounts. He started a business; then another business. He refused to take government aid when it was offered. He stayed away from debt. He paid his employees, but not himself. He never took a salary. He reinvested his small profits. He set up thousands upon thousands of families who had only dreamed about life, liberty and property. JJ Hill gave it to them. He helped them take dominion over fallow American land. He gave away tools worth billions -- the tools of wealth. It was after all this giving that his profits finally started to outpace his investments. He left an inheritance to his ten children and his business associates of over $6 trillion (AFI). What was the business mentality which sustained all this? Geoffrey Botkin explains the life of forgotten American hero James J Hill.
