If you believe in:

‘Need a designer?
Use Canva.’

You are wrong⛔️
Here’s why:
Few weeks ago I asked for an opinion on the topic.

So you can check it out before we proceed.

Done?

Great!
Let’s explore🔥

Almost all ‘list of resources to use’ tweets have Canva attached to it.

It’s free.

So anyone can use it…
Yes.

So no need of a designer…
Well.

Is that really how it works?

No doubt that…
…to move the world.

You need to solve the most pressing problem.

And that was the genius idea behind creating Canva.

Here’s a 560-brief story:
In 2006, Melanie Perkins, the Chief Executive Officer of Canva taught design programmes to her peers in university.

And realized:

•People struggled to learn about design due to the complexity of softwares like Photoshop, Illustrators, etc.

So she decided to close the gap…
By creating a platform that makes design easy.

Cost-less and
Accessible to all.

And that idea attracted more than 700,000+ users within a year of it’s launch.

With a vision to…

‘Empower the world to design.’

Like we do see now.

Now for the stats👇🏼
Canva is a user-friendly, online graphic tool used by over 75 million people in more than 190 countries.

It helps you create:

•Social media flyers.
•Presentations.
•Infographics.
•Slideshows.
•Websites.
•Booklets.
•Videos.

And is free on IOS and Android.
It allows students, businesses, teachers, creators etc have access to:

•Articles.
•Photo effects.
•Collaborations.
•Built-in templates.
•Social media posts.
•Text-image converter.
•Varieties of elements that makes the app easy to use.

A brief story:
Before I became a designer..
And like any other.

I used Canva to create:

•Quotes.
•Book covers.
•My cake logo.
•Cake-discount flyers.

It was a huge lifesaver..
And still is.

Except that back then…

Something felt wrong.

I saw my logo used in 3+ occasions.

And…
That hit the spot for me.

Which leads me to…

▫️Originality.

You’re competing with 1M+ people…

So there’s also a fat chance your current logo is used by 80% of users.

Which makes it ‘common’
Not unique.

So how do you stand out?

Yes…
You guessed right?
But..

Not here to highlight that.

If you choose to design a piece from scratch…

Without understanding the basic rules on how to do so.

You’ll end up designing something unprofessional…

And easily dismissed.

Just like this👇🏼
Canva can be used for basic stuff like:

•CV’s
•Blog post.
•Presentation.

But for complex ones like:

•Branding.
•Event flyers.
•Large projects.

And most times…
Twitter banners

Hiring a designer is the best option because…
Because aside these tools…

The creativity, skill, understanding an expert brings makes the difference.

Same way copy.ai can’t replace copywriters or

Using phone cameras for pictures replace photographers.

They are to help, not replace.
A designer helps you:

•Save time
•Provide quality.
•Communicate your message to your audience the right way.

But if you:

•Prefer Canva
•Want to DIY
•Think design is easy.

Then go for it but…

Think of it this way👇🏼
After designing it…

•Will they listen?
•Will they reach out?
•Will they discard it?
•Does it make them excited?
•Will they be willing to take the next step?
On a final note…

If you want to use Canva, learn the rules of design.

So you know what you’re doing.

And be directed…

It’s just so misleading to see post that devalues the need of a designer.

My opinion:

Canva doesn’t replace designers but…
Be the judge.

What’s your say on this?

Should designers be scared or not?

@SachinRamje says: No. I don't think so. Original creativity can't be replaced.

@iamalifawad: Canva is just a tool while graphic designing is a proper skill. So, how can a tool replace a skill?
Shoutout to my partner on this @ArsalanNiazi_

And my friend @CopyCat_Hq for advising me to write this..

Even if it’s been over 3months+
