The Book You Need to Read.. The lesson is simple: Stop rushing towards hot new hardcovers and pick up the book that built Western Civilization instead. No matter where you stand on religion, if you don’t know what the Bible actually says, it’s time to change that.

That's gotta be one of the best books ever written about the creative process.

The best book on this subject that I’ve found is a manufacturing book called “The Goal.” It has two core messages: First, you can improve a system by removing local bottlenecks. And second, optimizing individual parts of a system can make its overall performance worse.

'm torn about the value of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as a metric. On one hand, it's highly correlated with happiness indices, and people like Tyler Cowen have gracefully argued that we should pursue a strategy of maximizing sustainable GDP, with a low discount rate on the future.
