"The survivor needs us to incarnate God for two reasons. One, we all need that. Secondly, this need is intensified for the trauma victim because what has been repeatedly taught to a child in the seen is the antithesis of the truth of God. She has learned about fathers, power, trust, love, and refuge from one who emulated the father of lies.

The second aspect of the response is to speak truth. When people have experienced interpersonal evil, especially as children, they carry deeply embedded lies within. Such lies need to be exposed, gently and slowly, so the light of the truth can take their place. There are usually particular aspects of certain memories that burned those lies into the brain and help keep them there." - Diane Langberg
