Freezing Order: A True Story of Russian Money Laundering, State-Sponsored Murder, and Surviving Vladimir Putin's Wrath Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Following his explosive #1 New York Times bestseller, Red Notice, Bill Browder returns with another gripping thriller chronicling how he exposed Vladimir Putin's campaign to steal and launder hundreds of billions of dollars from Russia—and how Putin is willing to kill anyone who stands in his way.
When Browder’s young Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was beaten to death in a Moscow jail in 2009, Browder cast aside his business career and made it his life’s mission to pursue justice for Sergei. One of the first steps of that mission was to uncover who had killed Sergei and profited from the $230 million corruption scheme that he had exposed. As Browder and his team tracked the money that flowed out of Russia—through the Baltics and Cyprus and on to Western Europe and the Americas—they discovered that Vladimir Putin himself was one of the beneficiaries of the crime.
After Western law enforcement agencies began freezing the money, Putin retaliated. He and his cronies set honey traps for Browder, hired agents to chase him around the globe, murdered more of Browder’s Russian allies, and enlisted some of the West’s top lawyers and politicians in an attempt to bring Browder down. Putin will stop at nothing to protect his wealth and power. As Freezing Order reveals, Browder’s campaign was a main impetus for Putin’s intervention in the 2016 US presidential election.
At once a financial caper, an international adventure, and a passionate plea for justice, Freezing Order is a stirring morality tale about how one man can take on one of the most dangerous and ruthless villains in the world.

Mr Browder is an adept author, keeping his readers engaged, filling in all sorts of details and leaving out the boring ones, as his quest towards the passage ever more Magnitsky acts takes him around the world. He encounters politicians, law enforcement, spooks, and an incredible range of real people in this endeavor. Browder is, was, and has been dogged by the Russian regime the whole way, who exert a baffling amount of effort in the their crusade to enable the klept’s money laundering.
If it wasn’t backed up by hundreds of sources - news articles, audio, video, pictures, charts, and more from the most reputable of old-world journalism strongholds like Berlingske, the Washington Post, and the New York Times as well as the titans of new-media, Politco, Slate, Buzzfeed, and so many others, it would be unbelievable. But more so than many other works in this field, it is substantiated, over and over again. First and foremost in the quest for truth, Bellingcat and the OCCRP hold the Russian regime accountable, calling out every one of their lies and underscoring the urgency of Bill Browder’s work.
In the final chapters, as part of investigation into a European bank, he puts a top-line figure on the total flow of Russian corrupt proceeds flowing out, on the figure for money stolen from ordinary Russians by a broken, illicit regime, and it is staggering. Anyone who worries about the continued rise, in the early 21st century, of corrupt & brutal authoritarian regimes ought to read this book. Look to the Global Magnitsky Campaign’s success hitting greedy tyrants where it hurts, and know that we can still win this thing.

Fortunately for the lay person, it is not about the technical details of the Russian regime's money laundering but the process of exposing it and Browder's personal experience of campaigning and being harassed. He therefore makes it very interesting to follow.
Highly recommend if you are trying to find out more about Putin's Russia in these dangerous times.
