This books really helped me understand the power of human coordination and societal values. Similar to how the industrial revolution changed the way humans create value (from agricultural landlords), this new era of the web will have a similar or bigger impact. Humanity will start to value more things that are truly important for us and for the earth. For the first time, there is a way to fund public goods without the need of unsustainable altruistic sacrifice.

Sometimes the best things come in tiny packages: Greenpilled is a small book filled with massive dreams and visions, reading this book is like taking a pill that suddenly paints Web3, crypto and blockchain in a whole new light. Forget the BS you see in media, this is what we’re fighting for: reimagining failing institutions, building regenerative economies, and a world where smarter coordination powered by technology leads to greater peace and harmony.

Most people think of blockchain tech as the basis for cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin. While this is true, there is a movement of people who see blockchain as a tool to reorder the way society works. In this group they believe that humans have little incentive to address long-term problems, for example, global climate change. But using game theory, transparency and blockchain to insure trust, they believe that a system that changes the incentives to longer-term issues can be created. This method could address problems like misinformation on social platforms, and the like.

Lest you feel that this is too Utopian to be taken seriously, it is wise to remember that we have seen recent upheavals in the News Industry, the Music Industry, the Movie Industry and the Book Industry due to changes in technology. Can blockchain technology usher in a new way to focus humanity on solving the hard problems? We shall see. In any event this is a refreshing, optimistic, new idea that deserves discussion.
