- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2019Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseA great introductory book into Lie group theory for physicists.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI really like this book, He explained very well Lie group and Lie algebra with applications in particle physics. Properties of SU(N) are shown very well in this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2015Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI had a copy of this book in graduate school, on loan from our library. I found it to be a good introduction to Lie Algebra in general and its application to describing the spectrum of mesons and hadrons found in particle physics. I was glad to find it on line and it was one of the first books I purchased for my personal library as a physicist.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2018Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseCan't understand.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2014Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseIf I wasn't reading this side by side with a professor, many parts of it would have been baffling. There are two areas especially where something is presented as though proven but isn't actually proven. I would recommend this only if you have a professor to consult, if you don't intend to read every proof line-by-line, or if you are using it for review
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2015Format: PaperbackVerified Purchasegreat introduction for students and researchers alike.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 29, 2000Format: PaperbackThe book provides readers with the view of how particle physicists understand the nature with the help of group theory. Readers have to know the basic idea of particle physics beforehand in order to understand the contents of the book. If you know it well, you can learn a lot from the book. One thing I recommend is to solve the problems at the end of each chapter by yourself. After doing that, you don't have to be afraid of group theory when studying particle physics.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2013Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase+Easy to read.
+Gives many explicit examples.
-Sometimes it is hard to comprehend the meaning of a single sentence!
-> Good introduction for students with basic knowledge of Quantum Mechanics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Difficile d'accès.
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseUn classique qui manque cruellement d'exemples. Exemples sans lesquels on croit avoir compris.
D'autres auteurs compensent ce manque et en particulier
Unitary Symmetry and Elementary Particles. D.G LIchtenberg
Lie Algebras SU(N) An Introduction. W. Pfeifer
Quantum Mechanics Symmetry. W. Greiner
