★ From the #1 writer on Quora, 15x Top Writer on Medium, and Top 10 columnist for Inc Magazine ★

What are the secrets to writing online?

Why do some writers accumulate hundreds of thousands, even millions of views on their content—and others write and write, only to go unnoticed?

Nicolas Cole, one of the most viral columnists on the internet with more than 100 million views on his writing, is pulling back the curtain. After becoming the #1 most-read writer on all of Quora in 2015, a Top 10 contributing writer for Inc Magazine from 2016 to 2018, and one of the most popular writers on Medium in more than 15 different categories, Cole went on to build a multi-million-dollar ghostwriting company publishing thousands of articles on the internet for more than 300 different Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, C-level executives, New York Times best-selling authors, Olympic athletes, Grammy-winning producers, and renowned industry leaders.

How?

By using his own personal toolkit of writing strategies, headline structures, formats, and proven styles, all of which were mastered over a 10-year period.

“This book contains everything I know about online writing,” says Cole. “From going viral, to building a massive library of content that will continue to pay you dividends well into the future.”

In this book you will learn:

✓ Why you should NOT start a blog—and where you should be writing online instead.

✓ How to beat “the game” of internet publishing—and the 7 levels of success.

✓ How “going viral” on social platforms works (and how to not give up in the process).

✓ The Endless Idea Generator: How to never run out of things to write about.

✓ The Perfect Post: How to write headlines people can’t help but want to read.

✓ How to create your own “Content Roadmap,” and position yourself as an influential voice in your industry or niche.

✓ How to turn proven online writing into longer, more valuable assets (books, ebooks, physical products, paid newsletters, companies, etc.).

✓ And the 1 habit very single writer today needs to master in order to become successful.

This book is the Ultimate Guide to writing in the digital age.

No Fluff, All Value
There are writers you follow for a minute of inspiration only to forget about and them months later, and then there is Nicolas Cole. I’ve been reading his Medium articles since 2018. Here we are nearing the end of 2021 and his content has leveled up to intoxicating. I have been reading 10 pages a day of this book and then practicing what I read with my article writing. There are cheat codes in life (from those that have found success) and this book is the cheat code to online writing. “Successful writers play the game of Online Writing consciously. Unsuccessful writers play the game unconsciously-and then wonder why they aren’t succeeding.” If you’re on the fence about this purchase, you’re wasting time. Buy this book and never look back.

If you're writing content - blog posts, nonfiction books, how-to guides, or doing affiliate marketing - this book is a must-read. No contest: You need this book, in print, for easy and frequent reference.

Cole's insights are tremendous, tested, and innovative. In fact, this book is on the top shelf of the bookcase next to my desk, so I can grab it when I hit even a moderate composition snag (much less writer's block) as I'm working.

But, okay... Some sections and chapters went on. And on. And on.

Initially, that was a big yawn. Then I reached a section where I actually needed a bazillion examples of how to follow his advice. I had to read every single one of them to reach that essential "ah-HA!" moment.

So, I'm between four and five stars for this review, because the same chapters that seemed "too long" for me, might be the granular, "here's EXACTLY what this should look like" info that others may need.

Either way, I think this is a must-own book, in print, if you're writing anything non-fiction-ish. Or maybe writing, period and full stop. (I haven't had time to see how much I use Cole's advice in my fiction.)

Four-and-a-half stars. Superb advice. Tips I've never seen anywhere else. Highly recommended.

The advice here exactly what I need to launch my right and correct period I have only implemented his tips for a few days and I have seen the views on my LinkedIn articles go up by over a thousand percent. I highly recommend that if you want to use writing as a means of income that you read this book. There's no other book out there that's going to lay it out for you in such details and honest format.

I'm going to read his next book. The Art and Business of Ghostwriting.

I liked the book because it gives you a perspective on writing. I have begun incorporating it into my own writing - 1000 plus views on Quora in the first month.

Cole gives you a background on how he came to this writing style. Like other good instructors, he lets you know from the beginning that it is practice, practice, practice that makes one better, but not just in the privacy of your own home - out in public. This is the one bit of advice that I find most compelling. You don't get better without practice and feedback. Views, shares, etc. gives you just that feedback.

He gives pretty good examples of how to structure content so that it appeals to online readers. He stresses that one's writing will stick out if one does the research (the work) to see how the top writers in a particular niche write and use that to position one's own work.

There is much to the book. I trust what he has to say because it seems pretty realistic. You won't become an overnight success, but he will help you become better if you try things out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterclass on writing for the Internet
Reviewed in India on January 7, 2022
This is a book for 21st century writers.

For writers who understand what is required to capture attention in the modern ‘attention economy’. For writers who are humble and want to learn from their audience, instead of preaching to their audience. For writers who want to play and win the Great Online Game of Digital Writing.

If you believe in the stale vision of becoming a writer the old fashioned way, by moving to a cabin in the woods and writing the next Booker prize winner, this book is not for you.

Nicolas Cole provides a tried and tested game plan for becoming a modern writer by leveraging the power of social media networks, instant online feedback loops and building a library of content.

He has himself become one of the most widely read writers on the internet and is one of the most credible writing coaches out there. He takes us through his journey as a top video game blogger, Quora writer, Medium writer, big media publication writer, Ghostwriter for incredibly successful people and now Twitter and Substack writer.

He has been there and done it all and has now written a beautiful memoir of his journey as a Digital Writer. Through the memoir he has laid out a precise roadmap which is actionable, exciting and fun.

This book will teach about how to start converting all your ideas into readable online content. Generate more ideas. Choosing the right online platforms to write on. Answering your reader’s questions and solving their problems. Creating a community of engaged readers.

His advice is counter-intuitive and contrarian. It is geared for modern minds and digital citizens.

It’s the millennial and Gen Z version of ‘On Writing’ by Stephen King.

    One for the ages.

Very satisfied with this purchase. I'm a total "newby" with respect to writing for social media and online publication — but, that understood, at least I have this book which gives me a down-to-earth approach that I can follow in order to make progress. Every page has information you are glad to have read. The author seems genuinely attempting to help you out, keeps things thorough but simply and methodically presented, and has an engaging writing style and appreciated dose of humility to boot.
