During the two months after my break up, I went through a roller coaster ride. My emotions were everywhere, and worst of all, when I felt better, I always feared that it was just my imagination and that I would soon feel worse again. I got a lot of support from my friends and family, but inside my brain painful images that reminded me of my past would pop up involuntarily from time to time.

The biggest obstacle this book has helped me overcome is related to the fact that one of its authors is a hypnotist. I have only read half way through the book, but I believe I have found everything that I needed already. The techniques they presented in the first half uses a semi-hypnotic sort of way to help you manipulate and recode your memories so that you can change your way of thinking - from the root. Ever since following the instructions in the book, I really do feel like I was able to stop thinking about my ex and stop feeling pained.

I think most books helping you deal with break ups are shallow. Many books are just out to make a buck on someone who is desperate for help. This book is much better than the other break up book I bought, but books alone cannot help you get over a heartbreak. I would recommend this to someone who is looking for that last thing to help them completely get over their break up.

Breakups are no easy matter to get through, but with the techniques in this book, those facing it can work through the sense of loss, loneliness and pain much faster. The visualization techniques are key to helping people through the issues holding them back from truly sewing up their wounds.

Great book! Helped me to go through a very difficult breakup. I was in a committed long-term relationship and was suffering a lot. I had to get SSRI medications from my doctor and see the psychologist. But this book helped me at most. Not just a book but the exercises included inside. 90% of them were very effective and many of those had instantaneous effect. If you are going through though breakup then I definitely recommend this one. It is worth its weight equivalent in gold.

Good little book to read, a lot of valuable information in it. The exercises can help you change the way you feel. There's even an exercise to get over your parents and imagine your ideal parents so that you can chose better relationships in the future!

This book is somewhat different from most of Mckenna's books but it is still very good. I would recommend it just be warned that it actually has some theory in it and not as many exercises as other books.

This did not help me mend my broken heart, and most of the information in this book is recycled. There were a few sections that I found helpful, and I reshaped how I was approaching relationships based on some of the advice in this book (in particular - issues with dating the same "type" of person over and over again...they give some interesting insights into why this is). I read this book about a year and a half ago, and I have been in a healthy, supportive relationship for over a year now. I did a lot of work on myself, and this book certainly wasn't the cure to my broken heart, but it does make some worthwhile points.

Was recommended to me by a friend. Why the practical advice was comforting (sometimes we all need to hear what’s obvious from an objective voice) I found the hypnosis exercises to be difficult. Hypnosis works better with guidance; when you’re in the throes of grief, and/or are inexperienced, how can you hypnotize yourself? I’ve personally found guided meditation tapes to be much more helpful versus reading instructions, and while this book came with a cd, I was unable to play it because it was made in the U.K.

I read it right after the breakup. I like the combination of stories and practical tools. Easy to understand in English even though it's not my mother tongue. Thanks for the great book.

I've never read the book, but I used the mind programming cd after a break up (4 years relationship).
It really helped me to get over it and to look forward.

Heyy. I ordered this book for next day delivery because I was in so much pain I wanted to kill myself. When it arrived I put a whole day aside to reading it, and it's great. The CD is so relaxing and is so well recorded. It's too early to tell whether it's helped or not yet but all I know is it is relaxing and a very good hypnosis CD.

What is good as that as soon as you begin reading, I felt that someone understood how I felt, even the ridiculous and embarrassing parts like secretly not wanting to let go even if they've hurt you, and being devastated over someone you've only been with for a few months (he says it's because of how strong our feelings were and how much we'd mentally planned our futures with them, rather than the length of the relationship). So it made me see my most embarrassing feelings were normal. There are a lot of EXCellent exercises in this book. A lot of it is NLP and visualisation based. personally I am not good at visualising so I can't seem to get the reimagining the ex exercises to do much for me- however after doing the 'positive intention' exercise I realised that this is probably because part of me doesn't want to forget how he looks like (he's jaw-dropingly good looking), and that's okay, as long as I do the other exercises. I found three of them in particular were really relevant to me, and by going through them slowly and in depth the suicidal feeling has disappeared. I need to get some things sorted in my real life and finish the book and do the exercises few more times, plus listen to the CD some more times, before I can fully review the book, but for the moment I think it's been amazing.

I will update my review when I am done

**UPDATE 13.08.2013**
Hi! I worked with the book a bit more and wow!!! I didn't do or focus on all of it; certain chapters and exercises will be more relevant to you than others. For me, the Reframing perspectives and Positive intention exercises were particularly helpful and so I practised these a few times. I felt SO much better!! I started thinking about life with someone ohter than my ex because as much as I love him (I thought he was my soulmate and I literally have never, ever felt like that about anyone before) he has treated me appallingly and hurt me deeply. So I just think now, unless he does a 180 and changes his personality I don't want him anywhere near me, spoiling my future and potential future happiness. I am now excited to meet someone much better than him, and when that happens I will come back and update my review again!

I just want to say that although this book was great, I still had to have a single session with a therapist. However this wasn't because the book wasn't enough; it was because I personally don't really 'get' things by myself and learn much better via conversation with other people. The therapist said pretty much exactl the same as what was in Paul and Hugh's exercises and for me it was the final confirmation (hearing an impartial 3rd party saying it out-loud) I needed to feel better about what happened.

I was so impressed that I got his other book Change Your Lifein 7 Days and I'm working through that now..it's brilliant! Because of the "finding the positive intnetion" exercise in both these books I took the big decision to hire a life coach and I start working with her today because I realised the reason I couldn't move on was because my life needed a drastic makeover. I will update this review an my CYLI7D review later on after I've progressed more

Having a background of NLP and a practising Coach I found this book very useful. These are techniques and tools that will help one to get over their emotional blocks and move on after a break up. If you want sympathy its not what you must read. But, if you are someone who wants to move on in life and look for love and happiness then this book will definitely get you a head start.
