For more than 30 years Tony Robbins' passion has been helping people BREAK THROUGH and take their lives to another level -- no matter how successful they already are -- in the areas that matter most: their business, personal finance, intimate relationships, families, careers and health.

Tony Robbins has helped more than 50 million people from more than 100 countries transform their lives and their businesses through his books, audio programs, health products, live events and personal coaching. He's been fortunate enough to work with everyone from presidents of countries to some of the true legends of entertainment, sports and the business world. But his work is not limited to Fortune 500 CEOs and athletes. He has a special passion for small-business owners, parents and students.

Being the Chairman of seven privately held companies and five holding companies in diverse industries keeps him busy. Many of his companies have become brands that are leaders in their category - from the award winning Namale Resort & Spa in the Fiji Islands, to Twinlab and Metabolife in the sports nutrition field, to the Anthony Robbins brand in personal and professional improvement.

Most of Tony's core strategies for creating breakthroughs have come from his work with some of the biggest names in the business world: He's had the privilege of modeling and distilling the strategies of leaders in some of the fastest-growing companies in the world. He's used these distinctions to help optimize and grow enterprises to new and more profitable levels.

One of the things Tony is most proud of is his humanitarian work through the non-profit Anthony Robbins Foundation. He's always believed that if we're blessed enough to have insight and economic opportunities, then we're also blessed enough to be able to give back. To those who much has been given, much is expected. Tony Robbins is extremely blessed to be able to feed more than two million people in 56 countries every year through his International Basket Brigade.

If you are interested in NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming), this book is for you. Tony Robbins based this book on the latest findings of NLP and shared some practical ways to use them. He supports the theory with many stories.
Unfortunately, this book is very technical and not as good as his next book, Awaken Giant Within. I struggled to understand why I do need most of the methods he talks about. While NLP is something very interesting, it still needs more work to prepare it for something that could be used outside of therapy rooms.
You can read the full summary along with 56 strategies taken from this book in the mobile app BooksInAction as well as here: https://www.mentorist.app/books/unlim...

An oldie but goodie. This is a good starter book for people seeking to improve themselves and their life situation. Anthony Robbins is a wonderful motivator and the undisputed master of personal achievement. He will pump you up and get you going on YOUR path! If you want something more complicated, study "Neuro-linguistic Programming". Robbin's uses NLP as the foundation for his own success.

I have read all of Anthony Robbins' books and this book was foundational in getting me motivated to write a dream list 12 years ago. In that time I have achieved all of my goals except for traveling around the world. Fortunately, I still have plenty of time left for that. As a result, I would highly recommend this book.

Tony Robbins is one of those guys who made it big with little education. He's no scholar, has no college degree, and learned his methods (NLP from which his motivational technique "neuroassociative conditioning" came) as a self-taught mentee. He is one of those guys who rose to the top because of character, failure / success (which is a great motivator in itself), enthusiasm, and, of course, power. His power resides in his belief, his faith that NC is valid and works. To a great degree, it does. However, what is not addressed are those millions and millions of people who are not motivated, have never been motivated, and will never be motivated to achieve. Why? These failings begin in the early years of development and are based on a great deal and subsist to a great deal to failure at an early age to receive the conditioning needed. According to Robbins, only about 10% of those who listen to his tapes / CDs all the way through. He doesn't even mention how many who listen actually learn the methods / techniques therein and apply them on a consistent, ongoing basis. A major problem with the self-help industry, a problem I will take on through my product Give and Grow Yourself Rich and its follow up courses, seminars, coaching, and, most importantly, follow ups. ie: what are you doing now? Have you applied the techniques? How successful are you? And so on. Follow up and questioning to adjust where deficiencies lie is essential to anyone's success. Nevertheless, if you are able to apply what Robbins' preaches, you will improve, for his methods are sound and applicable to the lives of most.

This book is excellent... The first 400 pages are tips and concepts he covers in more detail in his seminars. But the last 20 pages of this book are so heartfelt and so moving... goodness... you have to read the book.

I can't say enough good things about a man I barely know. My father is the greatest man that ever lived to me and everyday, I strive to become someone like him. The only other person that has made a material difference on the way I live my life is Tony Robbins. If you want answers... love, living with purpose, money, health... you gotta check out his seminar. Its the best money I have ever spent.

This is an unpretentious guide into the power of the mind and how anyone can tap into this power to overcome challenges and achieve success. The insights extrapolated here are aimed at elevating your quality of life in all areas including finances, health, career, leadership and relationship.

Admittedly, the book is quite long for a self-help guide but it offers some exciting and inspirational strategies for success in an increasingly competitive and seemingly overwhelming world. I find that it perfectly complements Robbins' first book 'Awaken the Giant Inside'. He does an exceptional job of laying it all down in a step-by-step approach that anyone can follow. However, I have to say that to see the results of what he is recommending you have to practice what you read. It will not work if you simply read and do nothing about it.

This read is recommended to anyone who is serious about understanding the concept of mind over matter and how to tap into it.

Unfortunately, the reality didn't live up to the hype. I've often wondered what message and lessons Tony Robbins offered, seemingly like some mystical talisman offered to anyone who would believe. For many, Robbins may offer something they don't have--focus, clarity and drive toward purpose. I've already got those. However, by the midpoint of the book, when he starts delving into physical transformations (my area of expertise), he was just completely off the mark (trampolining and extensive ingestion of natural fruit juices--really?). I can see the value he offers the meandering masses, but for me, the message became tainted by the physical offerings of a snake oil salesman. He means well, but for me, has become tainted.

(Brief review)
This is one of the most controversial books I have ever read. Robbins has for sure a few useful things here that may help you, but they are mixed with tons of pseudo-scientific "psychology" that, in the best case, is useful in the short-term, and in the worst, even harmful.

The book is also quite repetitive and could have been compressed in a half, it is even ironic that Robbins says "our time is the most valuable resource" by lengthening the book. Also, I found most of the anecdotes and examples Robbins gave doubtful and questionable, especially in the first part of the book.

If we add that most of the book lack of references to scientific research or at least reliable sources, and Robbins did not add a bibliography, it is quite difficult to believe in lots of his statements.

I would recommend reading some chapters of the book, not the whole one. Here is a little classification I will develop in more depth later in this review:

*Useful chapters: 1, 5, 10*, 11
*Fair chapters: 4, 9, 12, 13, 14
*Poor/repetitive chapters: 2, 3, 7, 8
*DANGEROUS chapters: 6, 10

From chapter 15 onwards I did a fast reading because I just wanted to finish the book, so I won´t comment much about them. Probably, with the exception of chapter 17 about "anchoring" that may be qualified as dangerous similar as chapter 6, and chapter 19 about "values" that may be useful, the chapters 15-21 would be between the categories "fair" and "poor".

Now, I´m going to go more in depth in the chapters I fully read and tell why I think what I think about them.

(Full chapter review)
I have to say first that I´m a third year psychology student, and I have some frames of knowledge to compare what Tony is saying with I already know. Although I know that a degree does not contain the full truth about that topic, I consider myself quite capable to criticize the arguments Robbins has made in his book. I understand the fact the book was written in 1986 and may be a little outdated, but that is not excuse to give information to people that may be harmful for them in the long-term.

*Chapter 1: A nice introduction to the book. I really liked the definitions Robbins made about "Success" and "Power", and how he approaches those topics in the chapter.

*Chapter 2, 3: Quite repetitive chapters, if you want to save your time just skip them. To sum up, Robbins is just telling you a little bit about the importance and history of NLP and the importance of modelling successful people (imitating their beliefs, actions etc.), that will repeat many times in the rest of the book. I have to say with this last point that modelling is useful, but you have to adapt it to your own circumstances.

Also, the model about "inner representations" and "states" to produce behaviour is quite simple and lack of lots of the nuances and complexity we human beings have, but at least is not harmful.

*Chapter 4: Not a bad chapter, a little repetitive at first but I liked the exercise analysing your own beliefs later.

*Chapter 5: Really nice chapter. All the beliefs and mental frameworks that Robbins gives here are very valuable. This is one of the chapter I would recommend to be a must read in this book.

*Chapter 6: Very DANGEROUS chapter. I won´t say this chapter is useless (it is not), but it is not helpful for the reasons Robbins intends. Here, Robbins shows you principles of NLP that are not supported by sciences, and that may have a little of right, but in a global perspective are biased.

For instance, following Robbins instructions I would be a visual person for the way I talk and look, but an auditive one for the way a breath and I even I could fit in kinaesthetic by other criteria. Funny thing? Robbins said every person has a predominant "style" to gather information, and we should focus on that style in our communication and when we teach and learn. This is simply NOT true, we learn for instance by all our senses, and if we think we are an "auditive" person and we just start listening audiobooks for years, our important ability to read and write will be impaired. To know more about this topic, I suggest looking for Beth Rogowsky learning styles research.

But this is not the most dangerous part of the chapter. The real harm if this chapter comes when Robbins tries to teach you "how to modify your memories", giving more strength to the positive ones and removing it from the negatives. To be honest, this probably works in the short-term, but can be fatal in the long one.

I will explain this with a metaphor. Imagine that you have an injury in one foot that does not allow you to walk. It is hurting a lot and it is paralyzing. What Robbins teaches you is how to stop completely the pain so you can continue walking through life. The problem? Well, the injury is still there, because PAIN is a SIGNAL that our body emits when something goes badly, either physical or emotional. And if you just forget about the injury because there is not pain, and the injury continues bleeding, you will be in big troubles.

The same happens with depressed people. Robbins has a very simplistic model of "how to cure depression" that fails in this same problem, totally disregarding the cause. You may be depressed because of your economical situation and because you are not being able to bring money to your home to pay the food and the bills for your family (it is important for you, and you feel helpless). With Robbins approach, you won´t feel the symptoms of depression, you may even be "ok" with your situation, but the same problem is still there and if you don´t address it you will be much worst in the future.

Again, it is ironic that at the end of the chapter Robbins says that "if pain tells you that you need to change something important, you will have to or it will come back", when in the rest of the chapter he just ignores and disregards this issue.

Read the chapter if you are curious, but be aware of these dangers.

*Chapter 7, 8: Okey chapters, again Robbins falls in the problem of the lack of evidence behind NLP principles and the visual-auditive-kinesthesic classification, but there are some interesting things about relationships.

*Chapter 9: Not a bad chapter, it talks most about body language and its importance to how we feel and what we convey to others. If you have time, it will be good reading it.

*Chapter 10: I will be brief and concise here with each principle Robbins address, but to sum up, this is one of the few chapters with real scientific references (at least in some principles), and there are ones that are really useful and right and others very WRONG and harmful:

-Power of breathing: completely right, I just tried myself and it was really helpful. Most of the times we are not aware of the power of oxygen, but after all it is another essential nutrient for us.

-Water and food with water: again right, the quality and quantity of water is vital for our body to work.

-Food combining: NO TONY, THIS IS COMPLETELY NOT LIKE THAT. There is a phrase a chapter onwards from Tony that says "every lie contains a grain of truth", and this is perfectly the case with this principle.

Of course if you combine things like legumes, with let´s say oats and beans, you are going to be full of gases afterwards and feel bad and without energy. But this is not what Tony says about food combining, just pseudo-science like "don´t combine proteins with carbs because the digest differently". With the exception of vegetables, almost every food contains a PORTION OF EVERY MACRONUTRIENT, and they are all mixed in the stomach, which release the same kind of acid and enzymes every time no matter the type of food. Just try eating 1000kcal of carbs like rice and veggies at once, and you will be amazed with the insulin peak and the incredible feeling of tiredness due to the extra work your pancreas is doing to move too much glucose at once.

-Less kcal more lifespan: this is true, there is research that support this finding. However, we don´t know exactly the mechanisms behind this, maybe is not the fact of eating more itself but the toxic particles with it, so we may counteract this encouraging our draining systems. Also, there was a while ago an interesting experiments with monkeys trying to prove this, and surprisingly they found that the monkey that ate more and freely during the years, lived more that his twin because he was more happy and more willing to live.

-Fruit alone: probably false as food combining, but just try and experiment with yourself. This is still one I have to try in my own body.

-Less proteins: ... Tony, you are a guy whose height is 2.01 meters (6.6 feet), just try to live your life eating 30-50g of proteins a day as you recommend, and let´s see what happens to you. Just don´t follow his advice, we need proteins, look at most of the official recommendations today, neither of them are below 0.8g per kg of our body. And important tip, it is not the same just having enough protein to survive than to flourish (if you want to gain muscular mass).

Also, Robbins is super against animal products in this chapter, especially against meat that is like the devil for him. You know what? I´m vegetarian and I don´t consume meat after lots of research and trials with my body, but I can tell you for sure eating some meat is not bad. We probably eat too much nowadays and from animals that are bad fed, but the arguments that Robbins made to support his view in this book are more than defective.

*Chapter 11: this was a GREAT chapter to guide your life purpose and your objectives and goals. I recommend you doing the exercises on it, for sure the most valuable thing I found in this book.

*Chapter 12, 13: interesting chapters about relationships, a little simplistic in some parts but yet nice.

*Chapter 14: not a bad chapter, but again somehow simplistic and does not really represent the complexity of human beings.

As I said before, from chapter 15 onwards I did a fast reading because I just did not have more motivation to continue the book. If you are curious, read all the chapters keeping in mind the issues I addressed. If you want to save your time and just get the best of the book, read the chapter I recommended before.

Thank you for reading this long review! I really appreciate it! ;)

What els is there to say about Tony Robbins....

This book is good for NOT for everyone. The concepts of NLP aren't easily received for people new to self-help books. Tony does a good job of breaking things down, but there is a lot of information to go over. Hence the reason the book is so loonngggg.

Unlimited power will do exactly what it says, give you the power to make the changes you want in life using NLP. If you're new to self-help books, you may want to start with something different like Notes from a Friend by Tony Robbins.

But don't let being new stop you. With dedication and consistent action you can pick this book up and have everything you need to make instant changes in your life assuming you follow through.

Unlimited power is the first book I’ve read about NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) by Anthony Robbins. If you seek to change your life, improve yourself or if you are simply curious about how you can adjust your perception of the world around you with cascading effects, this is for you.

General concept : the book focuses mostly on the principle that power lies in how you perceive your environment and how to reorient your emotions.
Idea : you can change and train your brain to react differently to its first disposition by doing associations/dissociations in your head.
Example : you can give some events more, less or a different impact on you by visualizing them and changing some aspects of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

Obviously this is only one of the many principles that makes the foundation of this very complete book. Unlimited power is mostly practical and give a lot of exercises to do, most of them, if done correctly, providing immediate results and can be fun to try. The examples may seem a bit dated (you have to keep in mind that the book was first published in 1986) but the theory is timeless.

If you have not seen Tony Robbins documentary “I am not your guru” on Netflix, I really recommend you do it. It really gives an idea of the incredible powerful charismatic energy he radiates. I must have seen it 5 times already, each time I am as moved (to tears), impressed and inspired.

Ughhh I hated the first half of the book!
I read this book because it was given to me by my uncle & he really wanted me to read it.

I felt like he repeats things a little too much & that the book could have been shorter. The second half is pretty exciting! Stuff that you can apply. I love that he made sure to explain that the stuff he's talking about makes sense.

If you're into NLP, you'll probably enjoy this.

Not as self helpy as you might think

I was initially skeptical of this book when I downloaded it. I generally don't like self help and think it to be mostly fluff when it needs to be substance.

I was wrong.

Sure, there are stories in here you can skim over when you are tired and still get the gist of the book. But much of the value of this book and the good self help out there is to put into words and reinforce things you already kind of knew, but needed to have said to you. NLP seems kitschy at first but has some usefulness. Modeling seems intuitive but so few people do it. Knowing you actually need to act is something many people say they understand, but very few actually carry out.

I picked up this book during a particularly tumultuous month in my life and am glad I did so. It was one of the little reminders I needed that some people have life happen to them and some people happen to life. I would recommend picking this book up.

Disappointingly short but an amazing listen.

This audiobook highlights many of Anthony Robbins points from his book Unlimited Power. Very few speakers can beat Tony's enthusiasm and larger than life charisma.

Highly recommend it - downloaded from itunes for $10 and have it installed on my ipod for listening again and again! Well worth $10!

Thank you Tony for how much you have helped to inspire several generations of readers and listeners to think outside the box and not to simply not accept mediocrity in their lives.

TEIGIAMA:

* Asmeninio augimo gidas pradinukams - parašyta paprastai, lengvai;
* Platu - aprėpiama daug temų;
* Didelis teksto šriftas - lengva skaityti.

NEIGIAMA:

* Visoje knygoje teigiama daug tiesų apie protą, psichologiją, įpročius, bendravimą ir aibę kitų temų. Bet...

a) 90% knygos nėra JOKIŲ tyrimų, literatūros nuorodų ar BENT KAŽKO, kas parodytų, kad Tonis tai ištraukė ne iš šiknos;

Ne.

Ar skaityti buvo verta?
Eh. Jei neturi ką geriau taiklesnio ir labiau suspausto paskaityti - pirmyn.

This guy is a beast. I lack the vocabulary to explain the power of Tony and this book.
You can read it once and be motivated. For a while....
BUT! If you take your take, follow the exercices, THINK, and pay close attention to the meaningful material it's impossible to still be the same person.

Here you will learn how to change your perspective to take every as a challenge in the best way possible. Succeed and get what you really want to get. Get rid of the bullshit. And program yourself into anything you want. Really! Anything!

But this has a price. And that price is Time, and Effort - Brain Effort. It's want most people lack and the most useful thing you should do, because you have SO MUCH to gain with it. Take notes, apply the concepts and you'll reach your goals faster than you thought possible.

PS: You really need to take your time reading and using this book.

The first red flag appeared on page 11 when mentions that he will teach me the laws of "Optimum Performance Technologies" (with a registered trademark, no less).

The second red flag was when he started touting the powers of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) ,which is a pseudoscience that has made some outrageous claims which have been discredited scientifically. Look it up.

By page 33, "Optimum Performance Technologies" (with a registered trademark) is mentioned two more times and that's when I decided the entire book isn't worth my time. I've already learned the practical methods he mentions, the rest of it is just fairy tale bullcrap.

So much for Tony Robbins...just another con-man posing as a self-help guru.

An overly motivational mojo that seemed like a cheap spin-off from his other book, Awaken the Giant Within. Didn't seem to have that much basis to this book other than the rah rah cheerleader kind of disposition that the author adopted. The tools promised were also not that apparent. I would say that this is a very easily forgettable book. I recommend just reading Awaken the Giant Within would suffice.
