Ova knjiga je više kao jedna velika reklama za kopirajtere koje je autor izabrao za primere. Puna je zastarelih forica i autor otvoreno hvali neke prejadne taktike pisanja - npr. Šugarmenovo bacanje udice čitaocima o tome kako mu je došla klijentkinja u mini suknji na razgovor, a on jadan oženjen i neprijatno mu je. A šta je dalje bilo, saznaćete u nastavku. Ozbiljno?

Pored toga, autor se divi Džinu Švorcu kako je 1950ih zaradio gomiletinu para i kupio penthaus pišući oglase samo 3 sata dnevno. Kuc, kuc, zove 2022. i pita da li si realan, liče?

Pritom neću komentarisati nekreativne direct response forice koje su bile bajate i 50ih godina, imam transfer blama od tih tekstova. ("Did you catch that? We started out talking about clever ways doctors keep from getting the common cold. Now we're talking about preventing cancer and Alzheimer's. [...] That's a giant claim. Very likely, it would sound like hype if it came right in the headline. That’s why it takes an A-list copywriter like Parris to hold off on making this claim. He waits long enough that he can be sure his reader will believe him." WHAT THE ACTUAL...)

2.5 - closer to a 3 than 2

Not enough actionable insights in this book. Some excellent tips and history overall - but the lack of conceptual relevance between commandments hurt this book. If this had cohesive structure as to why and how these “commandments” coincide with one another, a summary section after each chapter, and many more examples, this could easy be a stalwart in the niche. There were a lot of good insights but I left every chapter thinking how I can really apply these techniques properly, and without contradicting one another as went on further.

I also think that a pitch for a newsletter should be done subtly and should be omitted from a paid product; despite this being a copywriting book.

A great book for experienced copywriters who are looking for a quick refresher on the different styles with many examples from copywriting legends.

I'm subscribed to Bejakovic's emails – and while I'll admit I rarely check my inbox, I did happen to come across this one advertising this book, and I'm glad I did.

I recommend taking notes of the different styles as you go along and trying them in your day to day copywriting where relevant.

Copywriting is a skill that's taught. You don't have to be amazing with words to know how to write. But with understanding some of the formulas that get people to read, or to take action, then you'll be qualified enough.

excellent book

Short and very pertinent. Loaded with the names of hugely successful giants of the copywriting world and the titles of their successful books. I read the book on Kindle and highlighted many great bits of advice and the names of the great writers sharing advice. If you write ad copy for a living or hope to do so, buy this book.

Good Stuff Here

A quick, easy read with great quotes, a bunch of other books it guides you to read, and evergreen information based on psychology and proven results. It’s got a soft but classy pitch for the author’s newsletter leveraging a bunch of the commandments right there in your face. He practices what he preaches.

A certain fluency to the read. Stories of interest and humour mixed with nuggets that writers both new and experienced will fund useful.
