About 25 years ago, Dr. Joey Raab had a life-changing experience when he witnessed deep emotional pain miraculously vanish leaving happiness in its wake. Since that day, his life's passion has been to learn more about what he experienced by exploring personal growth and techniques for personal healing. The burning question that became the catalyst for his work: can this healing be replicated and used by anyone to dissipate emotional pain and uncover the happiness hiding underneath?

That was the start of an amazing journey which led to a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and certification as a Reiki Master. Dr. Raab continued his passion by delving into more healing education including Kriya Yoga, Network Chiropractic, Pre-cognitive Re-education, and A Course in Miracles.

As Dr. Raab’s intuitive abilities have grown, he has developed his own techniques for emotional clearing and healing. He combines his strong intuitive abilities with years of practicing energetic and emotional healing when working with clients. He also teaches Pure Emotional Magic (PEM), a healing technique he created and which is the title of this book. The PEM approach enables clients to clear out their “emotional backpacks” and rediscover the underlying peace and joy.

We all carry some kind of emotional baggage with ourselves in the form of grief, anger, guilt, sadness, & fear. These emotions rob us from experiencing true happiness & the real joy of life. While there is nothing fundamentally wrong with having emotions. We are all emotional beings & emotions help us in expressing what we feel about a certain event in our lives.

⛓️ The problem comes when we continue to hold onto them indefinitely & this causes emotions to take up permanent residence in our “house” & they become a part of our being & identity.

🌪️ This book will help you clear out the clutter that you’ve been carrying with you all these years. It is divided into 7 chapters that delve into actual techniques & methodologies to help you unpack & finally clear the emotional baggage.

Few interesting things which captured my attention are

1. Having tea with your emotions.

2. The book doesn’t discard emotions altogether but teaches us how to deal with them with some concrete steps & finally how to let them go for our good.

3. Often, we keep running away from our emotional baggage in the fear that the confrontation will be messy or the baggage simply scares us. This book enlightens a new path for all of us

4. The first step is to acknowledge it & then experience it. The next few steps include talking about it & the last step is more like a natural response to the preceding steps which is to feel compassionate about our emotional baggage.

🌻When people ask me to recommend a book to overcome emotional pain I could never think of a particular book that could help them and explain everything in micro details but my search for that kind of book is over now. I would recommend this book without any hesitation to the readers who are looking to remove the baggage we carry inside of us.

😇How did I feel while reading the book?

🌻This is one of the most detailed and broken down book about different emotions we have and how to overcome the ones we don't want anymore in our lives. Author has done an exceptional job in explaining each topic with absolute care. I loved the flow of the book and the language which is very simple and direct to the readers. The book is about people in general and how we all carry a backpack with us. Sometimes we might not be aware that we are carrying a backpack, the author calls it stuff. So in the book I came across this term quite a lot.

🌻The chapters take you from what is stuff and how to get rid of it. The entire procedure with clarity has been put down in this book. Each chapter is closed with a summary at the end which gives a gist of the entire chapter and helps capture the essense of it. Author says that emotional backpack is a choice, if we want and if we are willing to drop it then it is possible because the author himself has been through dense times in his life and has overcome those dark days. Author shares his practices and how he defeated the bad days however stresses on the point that dropping this backpack needs a will and determination to do so.

😇How did I change after reading the book?

🌻We think we know what is happening with us in our lives but this might not be true because all of us have some secrets burried deep within where our concious might not reach. Hence we need to start digging why we behave the way we do, is it linked to a backpack we have been carrying? And try to get rid of that backpack if you are willing to.

Emotions have no permanence. They are passing energies that can be cleared out. Underneath the heaviness and the baggage that we carry lies incredible lightness and happiness.

The author has began a journey to develop a concise technique to help people work with any kind of emotion and release it in a healthy manner.In doing this work, he has discovered that we do not have to hold on to fear, grief, sadness, anger, or any other emotion.

This book is divided into eight chapters which talks about various things.Pure Emotional Magic is a technique for clearing out emotional pain and uncovering the happiness that lies underneath. All of us carry around some kind of emotional backpack that not only hides our natural joy but also colors the way we see and experience life. 

The author gave a brief introduction about emotions and also explain how to get rid of them.The author gives a lot of real life examples including his own which is very reliable.The author beautifully describes how emotions come and go but we must not let them interfere with our life.

This is a beautiful book on human emotions,how to tackle them and not involved it's interference with our life and to find happiness.This is a very interesting book which engaged the reader till end.A lot to learn from this book.

The language used is very lucid and flowy.I recommend this book to everyone because many people are dealing with the problem of not holding any kind of emotions.This is a must read book.

Take The Backpack Off.
We all carry around our grief, anger, guilt, fear, self-doubt, and more. We carry around all that baggage that can destroy our happiness and joy. This book dives into how to take that baggage off. The book helps you to clear any emotional weight and restore your natural joy.
