This was alright. It's a bit basic but would be a good introductory book for people who are debating trying paleo. Would definitely need some additional book reading to get a firm grip on how to go about it.

I did enjoy the fact that BEAR is on the exotic meat section. I only know one person who has ever tried bear.... haven't tried alligator, ostrich, rattlesnake, kangaroo, squab, turtle, boar, etc. But I would like too, I have tried bison, elk, rabbit, quail, pheasant, duck, wild turkey, etc.

Good, but too basic and incomplete. Could have given so much more information and encouragement.

It seems like every day there is yet another “expert” who claims they have found the solution to the obesity and health epidemic we are facing in this country. So many fad diets have come and gone, and for those of us who seek to live as healthfully as possible it can be difficult at times to sift through the plethora of literature out there.

The Paleo diet is revolutionary in the sense that it appears to be very effective at helping adherents increase energy, improve health and lose weight. Yet, it is actually a return to days past. In the Paleo Diet Solution the author clearly states why, how and what we need to do in order to gain ultimate health. He presents the history of the diet, the theories behind it, the doctors who endorsed it and the reasons why Americans can and should adhere to it. Those who believe in the diet feel that humans should only eat what our ancestors were naturally meant to eat such as lean, organic animal meats, nuts, eggs, fish, vegetables and fruit. Makes sense right? The author reports on the studies that have shown that removal of certain foods from the diet can clear up an assortment of digestive issues. As someone who suffers from digestive issues such as heartburn and stomach cramping, a diet that resolves this definitely appeals to me.

The book is expertly organized, and presents the steps to following the Paleo diet in a simple, easy to follow manner. The author devotes an entire section to describing what to eat, and what to avoid. Recipes are included and many of them look delicious. He even touches on the subject of how to deal with others reaction to your new lifestyle and gives tips on dining out. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming healthier and losing weight in the process.

People often use the phrase “back to basics” in conjunction with a realization that current methods just aren’t working. Author John Chatham uses it in the context of going way, way, way back to examine why so many of today’s diets just aren’t accomplishing our objectives of shedding pounds and developing toned muscles. Specifically, he points to our Stone Age hunter/gatherer ancestors’ reliance on foods not only provided in abundance by Mother Nature but those which also needed no sugary, salty enhancements or complex processing methods to satisfy one’s nutritional needs.

As Chatham illustrates, it was the rise of agriculture 10,000 years ago that led us, unknowingly, down the road toward obesity, heart disease and diabetes. His knowledge of the Paleo diet is matched only by the way in which he has organized the chapter content, provided supporting evidence of its merits, and included easy-to-follow recipes, a great teaser for his companion text, “The Paleo Diet Solution Cookbook.”

As with any new diet regimen, it’s essential that you discuss it first with your physician. It is also important to understand that results will not occur overnight but, rather, gradually as you embrace a new approach to menu planning and combine it with sensible exercise and a positive attitude.

The Paleo Diet Solution by John Chatham explains how to eat only foods that could have been grown, gathered, hunted or fished in pre-historic time, in the Paleolithic Era, which is where the diet’s name comes from. Basically, no alcohol, sugar or processed foods.

The idea is that many diseases can be avoided by eating like prehistoric people did, and Chatham includes some research to support this finding. I learned that the Paleo diet can help your heart health and improve digestive function. And, of course, you lose weight doing it, because it is mainly a high-protein/low-carb diet; it’s also full of Omega-3 fatty acids, which are not only healthy, but help keep body fat off. The diet is gluten-free, so a wide variety of people can try it out.

I had heard of the Paleo diet before, but never knew much about it. This book taught me everything I needed to know. There are different variations of the Paleo diet, and I found that “The Middle Ground” works for me, which is a more modern approach to the diet. Chatham’s book helped me plan my weekly meals and showed me which foods to avoid (dairy, legumes, high-fat meat). The first few days were tough, but I’m already starting to see results!

The Paleo Diet Solution by John Chatham is a step by step lifestyle change which follows in the footsteps of our ancestors, the caveman. Chatham stresses the health benefits of this particular diet before delving into the weight loss perks, explaining that while losing weight is an important factor a healthy body is best way to change your life for the better and enable you stick to the plan. The book also explains the different types of Paleo Diets that are on the market and helps the reader navigate to the best fitting Paleo Diet. Chatham is also direct and upfront about the beginning stages of the diet and difficulty you can face, when other diets are not as honest, this one wants you to succeed. The best part of this book is that although this is a diet focusing on organic meats and produce, it comes with a food shopping budget so people of all economic backgrounds can enjoy this diet plan. There is also an A to Z food list to follow and a cookbook to complete your successful journey into the Paleo Diet.

This diet book, and the accompanying cookbook I plan to purchase for even more recipes, make it easy to follow and to stick with it.

Another great diet plan from author John Chatham, layed-out simply and effectively in “The Paleo Diet”. The Paleo Diet (or Paleolithic diet) is an eating plan designed to get its participants back to the simplistic nourishment that one might have practiced in ancient, pre-agricultural times. Chatham explains that by eliminating the processed and refined foods that we as a society have come to rely on for our sustenance in modern times, our bodies can be leaner, we can have more energy, and ultimately our weight will go down and our health with increase. The book helps illustrate how such a diet would benefit not only the average individual, but also those suffering with allergies, athletes with dietary requirements specific to increasing and maintaining energy, and those looking to lose some pounds and live a healthier, less processed lifestyle. A great book all around if you’re looking to simplify your eating habits and take control of exactly what you’re putting into your body. A must-read!

Everyone knows that grandma knows best, and The Paleo Diet Solution reinforces this fact with a life plan to change your eating habits and become far healthier in the process. John Chatham guides you through the basics: what to eat, when to eat, how to change your buying habits. The book is extremely detailed and informative. Every question that popped into my mind as I read was answered almost on the next page. I love the idea of only eating things that are fresh, home grown, not processed. And, there are plenty of places to purchase those items. The Paleo Diet is especially helpful for those suffering from Celiac disease and those that are lactose intolerant. Chatham even details replacement foods (if you miss your ice cream) and how to work out and stick to the diet. There are even recipes. My favorite one so far has been the Nutty Spinach Quiche. Yum! It’s a great resource, and I recommend reading it and trying out the diet as it definitely is a great alternative to some of the other diets out there!

This book is now an essential reference for my library. “Paleo” (Paleolithic) refers to how people ate during the stone age (pre-agriculture) – nothing processed, no sugar, dairy, beans (legumes) or grains. The premise is that foods hunted, caught or foraged are much healthier.

Eliminating foods we’re not genetically adapted to eating greatly reduces many diseases, disorders and health issues like headaches, allergies, lactose intolerance, Celiac Disease, arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS, stress, depression and more. I was diagnosed as having cellular inflammation, which the author explains is from an overactive immune system caused by eating foods that humans have not adapted to.

With the shopping guide, food list (also foods to avoid), great recipes, how to balance carbs-fats-protein and guidelines for transitioning into the Paleo, I anticipate losing weight (and belly fat!).

I was introduced to the paleo diet with the book “Paleo for Beginners” which was really helpful. I wanted to learn more, so I purchased this book, which just like the other one is informative and well written. One of the best features is a section on health issues caused by our modern diets and how the paleo diet specifically fixes them. There is a great explanation of the science and proof behind the diet, but more importantly, it eases you into the diet and give great advice for how to get started. It’s a lifestyle adjustment, but Chatham really coaches you through it.If you want to change your diet for the better, try the Paleo Diet.

Finally a diet that seems easy enough to follow! The concept of the Paleo diet is common sense: go back to eating healthier, fresher foods that compliment an active lifestyle to promote general health and increase weight loss. By focusing on animal proteins low in saturated fats yet high in Omega 3 fatty acids your body will transform to a healthier and leaner state. There are extreme to moderate versions of the diet so everyone can chose a plan that is right for them. I'll have to write a follow-up review on how the diet plan actually works (or fails) for me.

The one thing all my friends warned me about with the Paleo (caveman) diet was how the food was simply horrible. I’m lucky that I didn’t listen, and I’m extra lucky I grabbed this book on the subject. Citrus marinated flank steak, crab dip, and APPLE PIE! They’re all in the massive recipe section. Once you read about why this diet works (and why the fake versions don’t) you begin to understand that taste really isn’t a factor. I’ve even converted a few friends with recipes they didn’t even know were paleo.

A practical guide to the Paleo Diet, some background, and delicious recipes grace these pages. The book methodically presents the diet essentials and takes into consideration different needs that people beginning the diet might have. I highly recommend this reading because although it does not constantly promise you miraculous results it does give you the reality of the diet and encouragement to follow it. I particularly liked the modified Paleo Diet for endurance athletes. Everybody should be able to find a recipe here that they would love.

Paleo Diet of the past can help weight loss in the present!

Paleo Diet Solution aims to replicate the eating habits of our ancestors during the Paleolithic era. This includes consuming large quantities of animal fats and proteins but only small portions of carbohydrates. The Paleo diet has been shown to lower blood sugar levels, decrease the risk of diabetes and promote weight loss. I was surprised by the variety of foods allowed on the diet and the recipes in the back look incredibly simple and easy to make. I cannot wait to begin this diet!

This book was fantastic! I loved its realistic tone and the way they presented the facts was both informative and interesting. If you struggle with food allergies, this is the one diet you should try as its dairy, gluten, and soy free. Great for athletes too! I loved the easy to follow Shopping Guide and the big recipe section that had recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and even entertaining! I can't wait to try the Mock Shrimp Fried Rice and the Pumpkin Custard! Yum!

It's really a relief that someone finally came up with a way to follow the Paleo diet in the modern world. Unlike other versions of the Paleo diet that insist on exotic meats and complex recipes, Chatham's Paleo Diet Solution uses foods that you can find at any grocery store and has easy recipes in the back, as well as advice for eating at restaurants.

Pathetic. It took me 30 minutes to read this. Padded, repetitive and mostly self evident for anyone who reads about food. I especially like the strawberry pie in a purchased pastry shell...! HUH? so much for eliminating process foods and grains. Since when did Paleolithic peoples process olives for oil? Sorry... more actual content less self promotion. Thank goodness for libraries.

I came across this book at the perfect time. I just found out I'm intolerant to wheat, sugar, potatoes, and a artificial sweeteners. It amazes me where wheat and sweeteners show up in foods. So grateful to have some options, especially breads and treats!!

While I have been inspired by Kristin to at least give this a read-my heart almost stopped when I read the list of "forbidden" foods. Potatoes and dairy? It requires more thinking on my part, but it s intriguing.

I thought this was very basic, not any more info than a blog. Actually, it was almost like blog posts put into a book. No depth at all. Did not learn anything helpful or new.
