Fascinating as a piece of history, business advice, insight into Rockefeller's personality and aging.

A very short book, and very much worth it.

- An absolutely stunning book, each letter contains 1 lesson and I can't help but almost highlighting all of the contents... it's one of these books where I probably will return to again and again

It seems apocryphal. This edition seems to be translated from Chinese to English, as the original book was in Chinese.

Rockefeller was not born wealthy, he was born in a rather simple family but his parents tried to get him into school. The fact that Rockefeller has The date that he was first hired by a company as his second birthday is rather astonishing.

This person was born to work. He does not believe in luck but the people who work hard ice going to be successful. This concept is different with all the financial improvement that has happened now, where capital works for the stakeholders, but his inner self is stick to what we called ‘the improvement of productivity’.

He had gone to interview for several weeks, failing many times. And then he worked in an established company.

The book is really a compilation of letters that Rockefeller wrote to his son. We don’t need a Harvard degree to understand the wisdom inside the stories that he’s telling his son, and the decisions he made during his entire life. The letters are written in the first person perspective, very honest, very transparent.

I believe a father will not try to hurt his son. And after reading this book you may become Rockefellers son.

Each letter came with a lesson. Most, I already knew, but it reminded me a lot about my younger brother for things he has to learn.

Reading recommendation from Rockefeller that I might want to read (and maybe you too): Pushing to the Front by Orison Swett Marden

The only mindset on business and entrepreneurship you'll ever need.
It encompasses everything from the basic mindset to more niche (and controversial) opinions on what it takes to become wealthy. And I'm all for it.

Great book and reading, lots of practical learning items and life lessons. Some minor grammar mistakes in this copy and archaic notions throughout but overall it was well structured.

Good Read

100 years have passed and much truth exists in this straightforward book. Letters of great significance that should be taken seriously.

Two and a half century later Rockefeller still be spitting straight facts. Enlightening, if only too short for retaining any sharp memory of it. 3.7 ish maybe.

Letters 11 and 13 were cool. Some of it was a bit cliche and basic but overall very cool stories, history, and such. Quite inspired

To quote Morgan Housel. A lot of the advice John had remained the same as ever compare to what we hear today.

Surprising insights

Was expecting the contents of the letters to be more calculated and objective but you see a heart and a spirit in each of the letters. Good humour laced throughout along with obviously distinctive mindsets that set him apart. Highly recommended for any leader, manager, executive.
