This timeless Dr. Seuss classic was first published in 1960, and has been delighting readers ever since. Sam-I-am is as persistent as a telemarketer, changing as many variables as possible in the hopes of convincing the nameless skeptic that green eggs and ham are a delicacy to be savored. He tries every manner of presentation with this "nouveau cuisine"--in a house, with a mouse, in a box, with a fox, with a goat, on a boat--to no avail. Then finally, finally the doubter caves under the tremendous pressure exerted by the tireless Sam-I-am. And guess what? Well, you probably know what happens, but even after reading Green Eggs and Ham the thousandth time, the climactic realization that green eggs and ham are "so good, so good, you see" is still a rush. As usual, kids will love Dr. Seuss's wacky rhymes and whimsical illustrations--and this time, they might even be so moved as to finally take a taste of their broccoli. (Ages 4 to 8)

    Who doesn't know of Green Eggs & Ham book? It's been a classic for generations and still loved today. I bought this for a three-year-old I babysit, but I know some third graders who still like this book. Because of the rhymning patterns, this is a good book for new readers or older but low readers.     La répétition des phrases n'est pas du tout dérangeante à mon sens, c'est un jeu sur le rythme et les mots, le personnage martèle ses phrases comme un enfant qui ne voudrait pas goûter les oeufs et le jambon vert, les enfants se reconnaissent bien là dedant!

    Inhaltlich kompletter Kinder-Nonsens, der - gerade deswegen - bei unseren Jungs (6 und 8 Jahre) super ankommt.
    Es geht um eine Comicfigur (Sam), der einem Erwachsenen dauernd sein Leibgericht (grüne Eier und Schinken) anpreist. Im Grund fragt er ihn in Varianten immer dasselbe, nämlich ob er denn nicht doch mal probieren wolle. Dadurch, dass die Fragen mehr oder weniger in Reimform daherkommen, sind sie sehr eingängig ("Would you like it in a box? Would you like it with a fox?").
    Der Erwachsene lehnt jedesmal genervt ab, bis er am Ende nachgibt, probiert und erstaunt ist, wie lecker grüne Eier und Schinken sind ("I do like it in a box! I do like it with a fox!")
    Wie gesagt, kein besonderer inhaltlicher Tiefgang, aber die Geschichte besticht durch die eingängigen Sätze und entwickelt ihren ganz eigenen Charme. Unsere Jungs wollen sie immer wieder hören und lernen dadurch ganz nebenbei und mit Spaß Englisch - was will man mehr?
