Great collection of interviews with Silicon Valley’s top CEOs during the late 1990s. Fun to read with 20+ years of hindsight as many were speculating on the future of the internet and computing.
Each company had varying strategies, but there were a few common threads that came through loud and clear:
1. Put customers first. 2. Hire good people. 3. Missions power businesses, not profit motives.
"In the Company of Giants" takes you on an exciting ride into the minds of the folks who built the digital world we're all part of today. The book spills the beans on what the tech pioneers really thought about the internet, personal computers, and where they saw technology heading. What I loved about it was getting a peek into how these legends felt and how gutsy they were to kickstart companies that would go down in history.
The book doesn't just focus on success stories; it digs into the nitty-gritty of the challenges these trailblazers faced. It highlights their courage in taking risks, challenging norms, and pushing the boundaries of innovation. "In the Company of Giants" not only tells the tales of these tech heroes but also shows the real human side of their journey, making it relatable and inspiring for anyone curious about the tech world.
For me, the book was a goldmine of insights into what drove these tech geniuses. It's a fascinating look at the mix of ambition, creativity, and the ever-changing world of technology. The book doesn't just glorify their achievements but brings out the human stories behind them. If you're interested in the roots of the tech revolution and the people who made it happen, "In the Company of Giants" is a must-read. It's a reminder of how vision, bravery, and a relentless pursuit of innovation continue to shape our digital future.
An Amazing book!, These are interviews made up to the 90's CEOs like EA Sports, Microsoft, Apple, etc, and is so interesting read how they think and they didn't have idea of what was next.
This is a great collection of interviews with legends in the information technology world. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Andy Grove, Bill Hewlett, etc. - the list goes on. Since the interviews took place in 1997 (during the Internet boom), some of the content is less relevant today. However, each person talks about entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership and that makes the book worth reading.
