WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THEY TOOK EVERYTHING?

Oliver Fitch has a troubling issue; he lives in a state of constant terror. After purchasing a convenience store in a once civil society, the streets around him have rapidly devolved into utter lawlessness. They're now festering with sinister gutter scum that only live to harass and intimidate him. His pathetic profits are gouged under the threat of violence and there isn't a damn thing he can do about it. Because in a city with no rules, where the sun never shines, the authorities are no help. In fact, they're an equal part of the problem.

The relentless fear of confrontation is so obvious that even Oliver's wife Lydia has grown to resent his spineless existence. The absence of bravado opens the door to a horrific home invasion that leaves the miserable pair savagely maimed. From there, things only get worse until the criminal leeches have taken everything. Until there's nothing left inside but hate and the gnawing hunger for revenge. Until a switch finally flips and Oliver realizes that they all have to die.

Yellow:
Gone are the days when you could throw out this ‘offensive’ word at somebody... Yip, it went the same route as Yosemite Sam’s “lily-livered, bow-legged varmints” and calling Eric Cartman a “fat f*ck”.

Do you remember a time when you could have called a politician an abydocomist, Miley Cyrus a bedswerver, a Kardashian cumberworld, someone from the South a drate-poke, a teenager a loiter-sack, a lwayer a klazomaniac, Keith Richard a fustylug or Oliver Fitch, the main character in this book, a wandought?

That’s right, Oliver is a very scared, spineless coward, whose wife has lost all her respect for him. They own a failing convenience store in lawless town, where the police are as corrupt as the criminals. It was only a matter of time, really. After a horrific home invasion leaves him with nothing but permanent scars, the anger takes over. The only thing worth living for was revenge.

And he takes it with a brutality unlike anything the bad guys have ever seen.

Cue Bonnie Tyler’s HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO and let the fun start right now! You don’t need to be a rich man with a Chiroptera fetish, an Australian Anti-Semite with a limp, a dead musician who gets resurrected by a bird or an Irishman with an American accent and a particular set of skills to go apeshit crazy on the bad guys.

While vigilante justice is frowned upon by most in ‘civilized society’, we are also fascinated by the concept – proven by many a succesful movie all over the world. This book is a homage to the DEATH WISH franchise.

BEWARE! This book is hardcore, brutal and extreme – if you are not into extreme horror, this one will shock you!!!

HOLY MOLY! He wasn't so "Yella" afterall.

This one is written so well and I couldn't stop turning the pages, it was tense AF!

I was always wanting to know what was going to happen next while Oliver (the main character) carried out his vengeance on the absolute animals that destroyed his life.

The ending to this one was perfect and I consider this book a masterpiece.

I recommend to anyone who likes reading crime/revenge stories and doesn't mind graphic depictions of extreme brutality and gore.

I’m looking forward to my next read from this writer.

Wow, was this a bloodbath. I mean it was brutal and ugly and downright cold. It wasn't necessarily for me, personally, but I went in knowing what to expect, and it's about what it turned out to be. Think of one of the old Charles Bronson Death Wish films, but with the gore meter turned all the way up. Oliver just had one too many bad days and he turned into a bloodthirsty monster, unable to stop his killing spree. All of the people that wronged him and those he cared for needed to pay the ultimate price. Now I liked how the author chose a very realistic type of person. He works a crummy job, scrapes by on his bills each month, does not appear as a hardened or physically chiseled action hero, and just takes all this abuse each day. You do feel bad for him, especially early on with Lydia laces into him for being a coward. And you understand his motives for what he ends up doing. That's about as deep as the story goes. The rest of it is just a sensory blitz of gunfire, razorblades, and revenge in the most extreme fashion. So there is a fair amount of sexual assault in this book, including rape. I'm not sure why, but I've read quite a few books with that lately, and it makes my stomach churn each time. I need to read something a little lighter next to balance myself out. Self-care matters, right? But this was definitely different than Beauregard's other works that I've gone through. Far from my favorite, with Die Tommy still being at #1, but worth a read if you want a bloody, revenge type of story.

Oliver Fitch was just trying to live his best life. He owns a convenience store and is constantly harassed by the neighborhood thugs. His wife Lydia thinks he is a coward. Cue the brutal home invasion that leaves them maimed. Oliver has had enough. From deep down comes the need for revenge and he won't stop until they are dead Not just dead, but butchered.

Excellent read for the splatterpunk genre. Loved the plot and the ending. Recommend!

Story 5/5
Narration 5/5

Yellow by Aron Beauregard is a very well written, brutal, vile, disgusting, disturbing, gory, non politically correct revenge story.
This is the tale of Oliver, whose life was destroyed by corruption in his town. After tragic and traumatic life changing events that happened to him, fueled by rage and madness, Oliver decided to seek revenge.
Every aspects of this story are dark and hopeless (almost)
highly recommend to fans of extreme horror

4.50 Stars — Wow, I’ve stumbled on a keeper here, Aron Beauregard catalogue, here I come!

The mess I say about this short, sharp and punchy horror the better. But the brute force of its language and style add the the simplicity and sharp edges of this little gem.

A style almost all its own, it’s like an amalgamation of comic-horror-punk-crime-violence savagery of goodness! The authors prose is not without controversy but has absolute power and adds genuinely profound imagery. Worth the quick-read ten-fold.

Brutal, vengeful, and a violent take on society, it’s main character whom lives with constant terror — flamed by numerous tormentors — I wish there was more writing like this to continue to offer a different stylistic outlet for fiction lovers wanting the occasion slap to the face.

Ah, man, I have a lot to say about this book. Really reminded me of the feeling of absolute helplessness that comes when working at a convenience store, for starters--but then the story REALLY begins. I would have loved to see this as a full comic book, but the illustrations at the start of each chapter were good enough in that respect...and rest assured, there's a lot you wouldn't want to see. Ollie is a really great protagonist and the plot is a great revenge story packed with action, gore, and even catharsis. Reminds me of Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance and Oldboy, but for a Western, urban-dwelling audience. (Also weirdly reminded me of--and I'm not quite sure why, maybe because of all the chaos--Milk & Cheese: Dairy Products Gone Bad.) Loved it, especially the extremely moving final chapter. Wasn't expecting to be so touched by the end.

PS, I want to see Ollie and The Punisher team up on an adventure, Aron.

Anyone familiar with Beauregard's work know it's not for the weak-willed. This story starts off fast and doesn't stop until the very end. Oliver is a tragic character, a whipping boy his entire life and it only gets worse. After a horrific assault on him and his wife, Oliver has finally had enough. His revenge is creative, savage and thorough. He is the judge, jury and executioner taking out the city's scumbags. There were some fantastical elements to this and if the author said the entire book was a dream, I wouldn't be shocked. A must read for horror and crime fans alike.

Brutal and Brilliant.

Yellow is a homage to Charles Bronson (Death Wish), and a damn good one too! Oliver, an emasculated man -down on his luck in every way- gets pushed to the brink when a home invasion by two local thugs leaves him both mentally and physically scarred. You know where this is going. I don't need to spell it out for you.

Be warned, though: It's about as shocking and brutal as it gets, and doesn't hold any punches.
A novella filled with non-stop crime, corruption, depravity and revenge.

This book along with 'Gone To See The River Man' are a tour-de-force of modern horror by two Authors who can write truly great Extreme Horror. My highest recommendation for fans of Splatterpunk and Hard-Boiled-Crime.

Aron Beauregard is one of my favorite extreme horror authors. Yellow is a masterfully crafted story of a man thrown off the edge, resulting in him embarking on an over-the-top journey of brutal revenge and eventual (in my eyes) redemption. A good moral of this story is that the next time you feel like being a jerk to someone, better reconsider, because you never know who may be carrying a ticking timebomb inside of them.

"The cancer was so deep in the slums that it was in its very bones, in its very foundation."

A combination of human terror, violence, bloody gore, and horrific revenge.

They called him 'Yella' , they made a huge mistake! They messed with the wrong guy! He's had enough of being made fun of, he's had enough of the abuse, he's had enough of the corruption! He's out for revenge and when he does he doesn't stop until it's 'game over'!

After reading 'The Slob' and knowing I had come across an Author that could write some truly horrific stories and yet tell it in a way that so successfully engaged my attention without being so traumatized by it, I knew I would definitely be reading more of his books. It's the way he writes, there is so much more involvement in the story telling that goes beyond the horrifying details. I enjoyed this gruesome revenge story, and oh my, the ending, I believe I shed a few tears.

Of course there is content that may be triggering, but if you can handle it and enjoy extreme horror, than Aron's books are definitely worth reading.

"But eventually, if you don't start pushing against it, you'll get sucked down by the undertow. Swallowed up until you're no longer able to separate it... until you've become part of it..."

Thank you so, so much for sending me a complimentary copy!

This book had great action and torture scenes, but after a while it gets way too contrived and over-the-top. If the events and villians in this book were a bit more centered in reality it would've felt a lot more impactful and meaningful.

This story was intended to be a satisfying tale of revenge, but the cartooney vibe of the story and characters made me just not care as much as I think the author would have wanted me to.

‘Revenge is oh, so sweet...but can turn sour!’

Timid, law abiding Ollie is feeling desperately down and out as every aspect of his life is spiralling hopelessly out of control so much so that the grim future for him and his wife looks like ending in total ruination. Yes, the whole world seems to be against him. Then, after a series of horrifically, traumatising incidents, whilst feeling at his lowest ebb, he finally decides to take action - after all, what on Earth has he got left to lose? Armed and dangerous, Oliver is hell bent on getting his own brand of justice and retribution - let the mission begin...and God help his tormentors!

An explicitly brutal, bloody, gore-filled, hard-hitting tale which leaves nothing to the imagination. If extreme violence, torture, mutilation, depravity and death, all done with a sense of purpose and righteousness is your thing, then this piece of pure escapism is just for you.

Truly gruesome, but also great fun - enjoy!

Aron Beauregard did it again. I cant get enough of his stories and twisted mind.

Oliver is a convenience store owner with a bitchy wife and terrible customers. One day events happen which lead Oliver to a revenge story of the decade.

I love how I feel for all his main characters.

Happy reading!

A lot of filth, violence, gore, and hemoglobin in this book of revenge! If this is what you are looking for, then this book will be right up your alley! Sooner or later everyone sits down to their banquet of consequences, and Oliver was there to prepare that banquet.

Packs a punch

What a great read. I found this author by chance and have now read a few of his books and he has an amazing imagination and way of telling a story so brutal and gory, that your hooked from the get go. I loved Oliver in this story, a man that has just come to his fill of abuse and evil, violent harm. Most people can relate to feeling like they have had enough and can't take anymore, but Oliver changes. And What a way does he change. Packed full of extreme gore, horror and brutality. A dream read for any extreme horror fan. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author and would definitely recommend, as long as you are not easily offended or weak stomached.

Aron Beauregard takes revenge to a whole new level in this dark, disturbing, and nauseating read! If you’ve read the authors books before then you know that the author goes to extreme levels in making his readers uncomfortable and that’s no different for this book. My stomach literally hurt while reading this one but for some reason I couldn’t look away. If you enjoy gory, disgusting, and horrific reads then you can’t go wrong with Yellow!

Jesus….. this book made DEATH WISH look like a Disney film.

This was a crazy, ultra violent joy ride from beginning to end.
I’ve had this author on my radar for a while now. He often gets recommended and his cover art is fantastic. YELLOW was my first taste of his work. It will most certainly not be the last!

Highly recommend! Oh so highly recommend!

A fantastically brutal read.

Oliver Fitch lives in a constant state of terror as the neighborhood around the convenience store he owns and lives above devolves into another ghetto. The threat of violence is great, and the authorities meant to serve and protect are part of the problem. Even his wife thinks him a spineless coward until the unthinkable happens…

Oliver is forced to stand by and watch as everything he cares about is stripped away from him. But they also take away his fear. When Oliver realizes he has nothing left to lose, he becomes a force to be reckoned with in this epic tale of vengeance.

This book was so much more than I expected. I mean, who doesn’t love a good revenge story? But this book was so much more than that. Good characters, excellent story, captivating plot, and the ending was great. Aron Beauregard is a superb storyteller, and I can’t recommend this book enough. You can’t go wrong with anything Aron writes.

Hm. Not bad.

This book is dark. Literally and figuratively.

Oliver Fitch lives in constant terror because his convenience store is being hounded and plagued by scums and corrupt cops. No laws, no rules and the city is run by violence and threat.

When a horrific home invasion left Oliver and his wife permanently damaged, something snapped. A darkness inside Oliver. A darkness that would destroy and maim anyone and anything in its path.

There's a lot going on in this. Satan worship, amoral cops, goats, human trafficking, human sacrifice, torture, crucifixion, necrophilia. I could go on for days and it just get worse.

Not a memorable book but all my horror enthusiasts would eat this up.

2.5 Mixed feelings about this one. Playground was exceptional but I don’t think this one hangs together as well or is as thematically interesting. It’s very, very, very violent, maybe one of the most purely concentrated doses of splatter I’ve seen, but it’s a little too rape-heavy, the characters are pretty flat and a lot of the villains’ dialogue is simply narrating their own evilness. Disjointed, but inarguably achieves its goal of being a real god damn sick puppy.

Before diving into this review, I’m going to rant for a little bit. If you are not a seasoned horror fan, dislike action movies that revel in copious amounts of bloodshed, or feel uncomfortable reading most books in the sub genre known as splatterpunk, don’t read this novel. I mean it. Doing so, would not only ruin a year’s worth of your mental well being, but also be very unfair to one of the most talented independent writers that is working today. It’s silly to dive into a piece of fiction knowing what you’re in for, only to bash it to no end for the very things that characterize the genre. If you have a weak stomach or get easily offended, there’s no way in hell I can even picture you getting past the first 35 pages of this book, let alone finishing it. That’s not an insult to anyone, but rather a sincere warning. I wouldn’t force someone who hates 90s Alternative Rock to listen to Third Eye Blind’s entire discography (although I would gladly do so myself). Not all entertainment is for everyone, and that’s okay. That being said, not all forms of entertainment are meant to evoke feelings of positivity and comfort. Aron Beauregard’s, YELLOW, sinks right into this category. This is, without a doubt, the most unapologetically violent piece of fiction I have ever delved into, across all forms of media. I’m including movies, books, and even albums when I say that. Once the carnage in this book gets clubbed into motion, each chapter becomes more hellishly morose and twisted than the one preceding it. I didn’t think it was possible for someone to think of so many outlandishly sick and aberrant scenarios involving death. Without going into any spoilers, there are torture scenes in this book that make the kills in the HOSTEL and SAW franchises seems like they belong in the fucking blooper reel of HOME ALONE. Aron Beauregard’s prose is visceral, unflinchingly vivid, and dark as the souls of the breathing trash he writes about. While this is obviously a good thing, it makes all the depraved and inhuman acts of brutality even harder to stomach. The author wears his love for hard boiled action and exploitation flicks on his sleeve. He dedicated this book to Charles Bronson, which I found to be both hilarious and awesome. Beauregard grabs hold of the most screwed up elements of films such as Death Wish, A Serbian Film, Death Sentence, and Basic Instinct, then turns them up to 11. You may need an actual spinal tap after reading this, just to make sure everything is working properly upstairs. Every character in this book, including the one you are rooting for, is devoid of humanity. Their decency, sense of love, and normal inhibitions, have been warped into something beyond comprehension. The author has crafted a tale that not only serves to shock the senses of the most hardened dark fiction fans, but also one that portrays the effects that endless grief and unadulterated hatred can yield. However, it should be said that while the subject matter and plot go to some unimaginably horrific territory, you always get the sense that Aron Beauregard is self aware about what he’s writing. It never takes itself too seriously, and that is important in a novel like this one. I don’t believe in including trigger warnings in reviews, unless the author has written them somewhere in the book. Since this book didn’t come with any, I cannot mention specifics. All I’ll say is to research what splatterpunk is all about if you’re unfamiliar, then settle into the fact that this novel is 5x worse. While all the acts that take place are over the top, they will offend or deeply disturb the vast majority of readers. YELLOW was a 5 star novel for me, but also a book I will never think about reading again. I got what I came for in spades, for better or worse. In my humble opinion, it is a modern splatter classic. This should be staple reading for extreme horror fans looking for a novel that will crack their jaw open, before nailing it to the floor so it doesn’t budge.

This book was exciting and thrilling, and It’s one of the best revenge stories i’ve ever read! Aron has a way of pulling you in and fascinating you with disturbing scenes of gory violence.

I really enjoy the character work. The guy just couldn’t catch a break in the beginning, and seeing what happens in the end is satisfying!

I loved this book a lot, and it just might be my new favorite Beauregard read!
