Investing in the stock market is challenging, as the market dynamics are unpredictable. The best book on Stock Market Investing.

I strongly recommend that everyone should own & read Parag Parikh's two books -

1. Stock to Riches
2. Value Investing & Behavioral Finance

I strongly insist that one should refer these books multiple times throughout their investing lives.

Good book if you are looking for an introduction to the various investment options including stocks and mutual funds. The author does a good job providing examples from his experience. If you're looking for something more detailed and expecting to read more about how to choose companies you'd like to invest in, how to build a portfolio and what makes a good portfolio, this isn't for you.

The case of reading an entire book because you got inspired by one snippet posted of it on social media.
A good introduction to knowing the reasons why Equity investment is a good way to increase money. However, the way to equity/stocks in this book is mostly through hiring a professional to do it.
There is no stock trading guide but explanation of the various terminology used in Stock Trading/Investment along with the exploration of factors that usually dissuade us from getting involved in the stock market

A good book that introduces behaviour economics to new investors. Experienced investors may not find this book very useful.
The author speaks in brief regarding the dot-com boom and bust and how investors gained and lost during the phase. Overall this is a good book. It's less than 120 pages, so worth the time for sure.

A quick read covering the important aspects of the stock market.

The book gives a quick overview of all the important things that an investor have to keep in mind when investing in the stock market. I really liked the behavioral finance part of the book which delves into the deep seated psychological factors that influence investors while being a participant in the stock market. All in all the author does a great job in avoiding all the stock market jargon and explaining things in layman terms with easy to understand examples. I recommend this book to anyone who is new to the world of stocks and investing.

It is a nice book which touches upon the basics of behavioral finance. It helps us understand the various biases and aversions that we have as investors or even in life as general.

“Whoever can supply them with illusions is easily their master.” —Gustav Le Bon

As a novice investor, this book has helped me gain insights about the stock market and figure out where to start. The writer mainly speaks about how psychology influences our decisions and even though trading and investing are deemed a rational person’s game, seldom is the case. He covers many topics in the book including types of investors, asset diversification, importance of cash flow, behavioural finance, sunk cost fallacy and loss aversion, decision paralysis and the endowment effect, mental accounting and heuristics. In addition, he mentions being able to distinguish a stock market bubble and if you are part of the herd mentality-the one to react last and not bear any real fruits of your labour and how that bubble bursts just as quickly as it formed. Apart from the normalised sexist comments and observations the book seems to be a good guide for beginners in investing but I am still skeptical of the author's thought process.

It is one of the books which you should read in the beginning process of knowing about stock market, mutual funds, financial literacy.
Its broad view would be how psychology affects our decision making.

In economics, we've learned that one of the basic assumption of many laws is that human beings are rational beings and would always maximize their profits. But, in this book, we get to know that how irrational we become when we have to use our brain rationally.

The few things we learn are Investing, Loss Aversion, Sunk, cost fallacy, Status quo bias, Endowment effect, Decision paralysis, Mental heuristics, Mutual funds, Stock market, How the stock market operates in a loop, How a bubble is formed, How they burst, Types of investors, Assest diversification, Importance of cash flow, What are assets and liability (inspired from Rich Dad Poor Dad, which the author has acknowledged), and importance of stocks in investment.

Stocks to Riches is Must Read for a new entrant to Stock Market, especially if he/she does not have necessary qualifications to enter stock market. Book does not tell you which stocks to pick, rather it guides your overall investment strategy with the help of the Behavioural Fiance approach.
I found it very useful to start my Journey.
From my very own experience, though I read this book 10 years ago but made no sense to me as I was not into stock markets by then. Recently I started to invest in the stock market and made some losses and some profits in the last 2-3 years. Now when I look back, I should have read this book just before entering stock markets to make my money work hard for me.
This also brings another point to my mind that though there would many books, guidance available to you, pick only what is relevant to you and adds value to you, Now.
Just gathering info, because of High Recommendation, Good Reviews, etc; will not add value to you.

This book is a good short read. It delves into the very basics of investing and behaviours of various investors. He writes the book as a dialogue of misconceptions we fall to. Parikh does a good job explaining the basics and terminology of the stock market and as a beginner, I appreciated his ability to make a reader understand the market and its benefits. Although I enjoyed the book, I found his dialogues awfully sexist. The female characters mentioned always say the same line and I quote " I am only a housewife. I do not understand investments". He also referred to parents looking at investment for their daughter in terms of jewellery and marriage and for sons as investing in real estate. Statements like this really ruined the book for me. I hope this Indian mentality has shifted since 2005 when he wrote the book.

It's a good book for a newbie. This book is about behavioral economics which won Richard Thaler Noble prize in economics for 2017. The author explains conditions like Loss aversion, sunk cost fallacy, decision paralysis, endowment effect which explains why we hold on to the losing stock, exit profits early etc.
It also contains an account of mental accounting-which explains why we view gifted income and earned income differently and hence spend both in a different manner, mental heuristics, mutual funds, stock market bubble- where the author explains how operators fluctuate prices of stocks.
Overall this book is great for a beginner but is not that effective for one who is already in the field.

Introductory but very important for all investors. Gives a gentle touch to "Behavioral Finance", how our emotions cloud our judgement, take irrational decisions during volatile markets etc;

Personally, I've suffered from these cognitive biases during this one year of investing in market. Practicing these to control emotions during investment is the toughest and most underrated one.

Anyone who's interested in the long term investing must look into this book not because it offers any techniques but explains our psychology, emotions towards money and how we can leverage for our purpose

I Like most of concept. one of the most common is we spend gift money lavishly. as Mentally, this is free money. but we spend Salary money as careful.

however, one of the concepts which i don't agree author said that you should not borrow money for the business (as in example one businessman earn less interest on fix deposit and paying a high-interest rate on the borrowed money) i think for an emergency it is necessary to have liquid cash, in an emergency, you can liquid fix deposit, in a day or two days you will not sale all your business for the reason that you needed 10% money what you invest in the business.

Good book for understanding Indian Market sentiments

Do read the book to understand the emotions/behaviours behind why we buy stocks but do not read it if you wish to know which stocks to pick or are looking for technical/performance analysis.

There are ample of examples to learn from and then comprehend and make your analysis in today's dynamic equity market. It is not only about financial analysis or timing the market but a lot on how you see the stock.

Recommend Meter: Yes, A very short crisp book to understand the behaviours of customers in stock markets.

The best advice I liked: DO not marry your stocks :P

It is a good book for generalized ideas which some of us know already. But the one thing which is the speciality of this book is the great insight to behavioral driven market. Good points on mutual fund investment and their type. This book also endorse the prime idea of Rich Dad Poor dad by Robert kiyosaki. So have a read on that also.

This lacks in this book are not a detailed parameters of the stock market industry, how to do in-depth analysis of stocks before buying etc. These should be included in the book.

This book provides a neat introduction to stocks. More than stocks, this book talks about money and our behavior with it. The concepts like holding on to losers and letting go winners early and about having different mental accounts for money earned in different ways hits you hard than you think. It's a small pack condensed with the wisdom that is out there in popular books on investments. Just that this book is written for the Indian audience. I enjoyed reading it, and sure I learned many new things.

A very fundamental and simple book for anyone who is a beginner in the stock markets. Infact. more than stcoks, the books talks about financial literacy with a touch of behavioral economics. Some concepts regarding biases in decision making were a good revision of "Thinking Fast and Slow". Also, coming from Mr Parag Parekh , who is remembered as someone who always had the interests of retail investors in mind, the book will help to avoid common pitfalls in the market that retail investors get into.
Overall, a very simple read which anyone can relish over a weekend
4/5 stars.

Short but essential .This is not a book that helps in stock picking or making quick profits but it guides you to look inside the system to understand what drives the herd and whether you are acting as part of it. It not only points out how the human brain operates or processes information and why people do what they do during various phases of stock market feedback loop . It also provides some nice ideas to avoid the common pitfalls .
Overall, its a good book that one can refer to when the market is in the extremes of bear or bull phase .

A very easy, simple guide generally to the Stock Markets, and specifically to the Indian Stock Market. It briefs you with the theories that function within and around you when you invest in stocks. It discusses the market, your thinking while deliberating upon the option to invest, or how artificial bull run or fall is created in the market.
Being small and easy to read, this book should be read at least once if a person aims to increase his/her financial literacy.

A good book to understand the basics about investing ( for in practice/beginner investor )and dilemmas faced by an investor in the market.
Gives various examples of the typical situations which are encountered by anyone beginning to invest , and suggest ways out of the problems.

Note : This book doesn't cover how to choose between different options and the depths of each , or how to choose a stock before investing.

Awesome book, it is more about basic psychology to apply on the stock market

I loved each and every part of this book. It is more about how the market works than what type of stocks to choose. It points much about the psychological thinking that most people undergo when they enter the stock market.

Mr. Parag has wrote this book with great intent to make the content very simple and brief for the readers. He did try to cover wide range of topics.
I am deeply heartened that I have read this book. I stays relevant even today. Although most examples and case studies are cited in and across the early 2000's. It is worthwhile to read this copy.
