Infinite Potential: The Greatest Works of Neville Goddard

Rate this book
A spiritually transformative collection of Neville Goddard's works--including never-before-published material

Neville Goddard, most often known simply as Neville, is one of the most powerful writers in the realm of mystical spirituality. Unknown during his lifetime, his work has grown increasingly popular, and his writings have influenced the likes of Rhonda Byrne, Carlos Castaneda, Joseph Murphy, and Wayne Dyer. The founding principle of Neville's work was stunning in its simplicity--Your imagination is God. This message of empowerment has resonated with countless readers, urging them to fearlessly explore their own potential in a new way.

Compiled and introduced by PEN Award-winning historian Mitch Horowitz, Infinite Potential is a curated compendium of Neville's work, including the complete text of his first book, At Your Command, along with rare pamphlets, transcriptions and three never-before anthologized pieces from the great writer. Horowitz is the leading expert on Neville and his teachings, and his introduction frames Neville's work in both a historical and modern-day context, offering a complete timeline of the writer's somewhat mysterious life. Infinite Potential is an accessible and profound anthology from one of the greatest spiritual minds of the 20th century.

"Heaven is within you" (16).

"Things have no reality other than in consciousness. Therefore, get the consciousness first and the thing is compelled to appear" (18).

"Right now look upon yourself as this virgin Mary--being impregnated by yourself through the medium of desire--becoming one with your desire to the point of embodying or giving birth to your desire" (19).

"As long as you remain in your present conscious state so long will you continue desiring that which you now desire. Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the nature of your desires" (74).

"As soon as we succeed in transforming self, our world will dissolve and reshape itself in harmony with that which our change affirms" (96).

"Assume that you are that which you want to be" (141).

"Freedom and forgiveness are indissolubly linked. Not to forgive is to be at war with ourselves for we are freed according to our capacity to forgive" (154).

"Forgive, nor merely from a sense of duty or service, forgive because you want to" (154).

"Changing our lives means changing the past. The causes of the present evil are the unrevised sense of the past. The past and the present form the whole structure of man. It is carrying all of its contents with it. Any alteration of content will result in an alteration in the present and future" (198).

"There are only two sins recorded in scripture that offend God. One is: "Unless you believe that I Am He you die in your sins," and the other is eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Ask our generals tonight if it would be good to stop bombing Vietnam and they would say, No. GO across the ocean and ask the Vietnamese and they would say, Yes. So what is good and what is evil?"

I don't want to rate this book because it would detract from the stars and really I just think the book was not for me. It's certainly an interesting enough read, but I found myself getting extremely lost, and as I have extremely limited knowledge of the bible, I felt like I was very behind.

Neville's body of work is meant to help people fulfill their dreams and live up to their potential in the world. He believed in the power of positive thinking, but did so to the extreme, believing that through our union with God, we could imagine and thus become the reality we are seeking. He shows how his methods can still fit with Christianity and gives numerous examples from the Bible throughout the book. In one of the later chapters, he talks of how some people would say he was nuts and therefore never try his methods while others would tell him of their successful experiences similar to the ones he had.

It was an interesting read and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to try his methods to imagine a better life for the people I care about. Reading his writing is akin to reading a philosophy book (you'll see why Rene Descarte came to mind) so it was by no means a quick read. Since it is a series of separate works from the same man there is some redundancy, but this also means you wouldn't have to read the book in chronological order, although I recommend that you do.

I received this book in a goodreads giveaway.

What a beautiful experience to share Neville's deepest mystical experiences through his words. Such a beautiful soul this man! Note about the editor/publisber: I particularly appreciate the transcription of the only recordings remaining of some of Neville's talks. Thank you Mitch for this lovely publication.

A well written thought provoking book full of inspiration and interesting quotes. It's a small book so it's very easy to get through but still it is one that can be savored slowly in times of needed reflection.

Now I will say, that although I found this book quite interesting and I went in with a very unbiased open minded mentality the truth is that this book does not quite go with the beliefs that I use in my life so I am not sure it is as beneficial as it would be if these thoughts were vital to my own thinking. Still, I wanted to read it because, again...I wanted to have an open mind. I enjoy reading all kinds of books just like this to further confirm that I am definitive in my own beliefs. Would I recommend this book to others? Absolutely. I know people that would appreciate this book and take from it way more than I ever could because it is so well written and the format is great.

Thanks to goodreads and to Author Neville Goddard for my copy of this book won via giveaway. I received. I read. I reviewed this book honestly and voluntarily.

Full of interesting and thought provoking information. I had not read any of Neville Goddard works before so this was a great introduction for me. This is definitely a book I will go back and reread because I know I will absorb even more from it. I won this book in a GoodReads Giveaway.

This definitely helped me condense Neville's thoughts and teachings into a more coherent thought. During the last two years, as I've been introduced to New Age thinking and teachings, I've now come to know about Neville and his amazing message that he brings with him. Neville is consistent in the message that he wants to get across to mankind, that humans have access to an amazing power and connection to the divine through what we call the human imagination". This is a concept that I will be learning about for the rest of my days on earth, so thank you to Neville for eloquently spreading the message.

„Deny it if you will, it still remains a fact that consciousness is the only reality and things but mirror that which you are in consciousness. So the heavenly state you are seeking will be found only in consciousness, for the kingdom of heaven is within you. As the will of heaven is ever done on earth you are today living in the heaven that you have established within you. For here on this very earth your heaven reveals itself. The kingdom of heaven really is at hand. NOW is the accepted time. So create a new heaven, enter into a new state of consciousness and a new earth will appear.“ ― Neville Goddard, Infinite Potential: The Greatest Works of Neville Goddard

I won this book in a Giveaway. I will say it is well-written and the author has a clear understanding of where he wishes to take the reader...just not 'this' reader. The intention behind this book goes against my own personal religious beliefs, therefore I cannot, in good faith, continue reading. I can say, however, that despite our differences, this is a very well presented body of work.

I won this book as an early read. The book is well written and provides a different perspective. Not my favorite book as I felt the arguments were not fully made. Some lines are thought provoking, but I’m not aligned.

This book is well written and the themes are interesting but unfortunately I dissented on quite a lot of things.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
