An excellent new book from @danielgross and @tylercowen on how to hire great people: [link] Between them, they've seen how undergrad & grad programs, academic departments, YC, startups, Apple, and Pioneer do talent selection. Run, don't walk!

Agree; by far the best book I've read on the sector.

The book does a very good job making clear the vaccine program wasn't a case of august mechanisms working neatly as designed. It was a case of stubborn iconoclasts persevering in the face of opprobrium, doubt, and endless setbacks... and saving the world.
